Retrocomputers

I haven’t really found a good place to ask this so far, but I was wondering if anyone knew anything about troubleshooting Macintosh SEs from 1987 where the HDD light is flashing and the hard drive will not boot. Short of taking it apart *shudder* and dealing with 40 year old capacitors and the CRT, is there anything that I can do as a mostly inexperienced person? I’m trying to get this done before Christmas because my gift involves Mac compatible floppies. Any help that anyone can give is greatly appreciated!
