I realize that I've been a bit deficient with this "writing journal" bit. However, I am, indeed, still, as you can see, making art here and there, but being a full-time Ph.D. student does expend a LOT of energy. (Especially with a year until thesis time!)
That said, I've managed also to do a lot of travelling since my last post, the most recent being a combined work/vacation trip to Japan. It was... a lot of fun and very fascinating, but a bit overwhelming to the senses. It's amazing how loud Japan is in general: the cicada buzzing, the shop keepers yelling things, the loud music in places... it's very different from the image people have of Japan being very reserved, peaceful, quiet, and the like. There were some very quiet places I went to, of course, like Hakone, but it still was a very different experience from what stereotypes would suggest. Either way, good food, beautiful sights, lots of things bought, and an overall fun time means I'll be going back to Japan, but the exact return date is presently unknown.
Now that I'm back in Europe, though, I'll try to get some more stuff done in the interim before thesis crunch time eats up all of my energy. I have some ideas for a few things here and there, especially for banknotes and some passport-related stuff, but I'm also thinking of trying my hand at free-hand drawing again... it's been way too long. We'll see.
I might also be available for commissions, especially around Christmastime, with more details to come.
