Someone once said that silence was golden, but is it really?
Silence is defined as:
absence of any sound or noise; stillness
absence or omission of mention, comment, or expressed concern
the state of being forgotten; oblivion
hush, quell, muzzle, gag
Wouldn't it be sad it God had remained silent. If God had never said anything to us in all of creation. If God never told us about the savior he planed to send to us.
Wouldn't is be utterly horrible if in all of this time, God never expressed his concern over his creation. if he had forgotten us, and concealed his plans for us through the use of this simple tiny word.
What would our world be like if God never told Noah to build the ark. Where would we be if the 10 commandments, were just 2 blank stone tablets. What would have happened to our world if God had never said, Let there be light.
Silence is nothing, totally and completely. Through silence, we cannot express joy, or love, pain or sorrow. Through silence we cannot grow, build or achieve. In silence, we would be covered in darkness, and secrecy.
There would be no music or laughter. nothing to remind us of our Mighty God. With silence, comes stillness. Lack of productivity, communication with others. Silence amounts to death. Separation and total absence from God.
Golden is defined as:
bright, metallic, or lustrous like gold;
made or consisting of gold
exceptionally valuable, advantageous, or fine
full of happiness, prosperity, or vigor
splendid, glorious, joyous.
We all know that Gold is bright and shiny. We are naturally attracted to it. We apply value to it, worship and adore it. We strive to obtain it. Wars have fought over it. Death and destruction have followed it.
Idols and false worship have much in common with gold. false religions put a great deal of emphasis on Gold, in fact some churches today adorn much of their buildings looks in gold or items made of gold.
Gold is thought of as being valuable, precious, and highly desired.
Isn't if funny, that the one thing we put so much value on, God doesn't. Look at it this way. In many cultures, the monetary system is based on ether gold or silver.
Many country's have coins made of gold. Gold is traded, sold, bought, stolen, loved, feared. The list goes on. It is safe to say that gold is very much related to money, and according to Gods own word, Money is the root of all evil.
So if we look at the first statement carefully, we can clearly see that silence, doing nothing, saying nothing is more evil than good. Now, I know that some will say that that is not true, and yes I will agree that there are times to be silent. There are times when that act, is a good thing. But for a christian, remaining silent is not always good.
To have never been told of our Lords love for us, could not possibly have had any value to it. If there were no music or singing, how could we possibly praise our God for all of his wonderful blessings.
What value is there in silence.
