It's almost all cut paper (the background is painted). :)

But i mean, the 3d effects, how do you create those?

I use matte board spacers behind some of the elements to raise them up a bit so they create stronger shadows.

I just played this game a few weeks ago and it was amazing :)  You've done a wonderful job portraying these characters.  I've always loved paper cut-out artwork and collages like this and always wish I had an eye for it (but sadly, all of mine just end up looking like a hyper 5 year old glued a bunch of random tissue paper together) :giggle:
