Elegant for Rent

By rent0n86
54 Favourites
A fresh, minimal and simple theme suite for your desktop, based on the Elegant series.

The archive contains the GTK, the Emerald, the Metacity, the Xfwm and the Openbox themes.

Let me now what do you think of it! :D

Please read the README file for instructions on installation, issues and credits!

- 04/02/09: Fixed a problem in prelight text color inside combo box: it was black for some reason, now it's white (much better).

- 23/03/09: Fixed another little bug in background prelight: text was white being unreadable, now it has a cool dark background, matching the theme.
I've darkened the grey color from #808080 to #757575: now selected text is more visible and readable. Of course i've also changed all the gtk images to match the new color!

-24/03/09: Thanks to drakfire now my suite also has an Xfwm theme, for pure Xfce fans! Go try it!

- 29/03/09: The Elegant for Rent suite is today completed by an openbox (by rent0n) and a metacity (by drakfire) theme. Enjoy!

- 25/05/09: Removed icons from menus and buttons and added a fix for the CPU frequency applet in the gtk theme. Added a nice space between menu and submenu in the openbox theme.

- 07/06/09: Fixed scrollbars width, now they are smaller!

- 16/06/09: Minor changes including cleaner active tabs and simpler resize handle.

- 24/06/09: Added a small border on gtk menu items to remove the "white on white effect".

Please report any bug! Thank you! :)

Cooool! Thank you :D

This theme is great but I've got a small "glitch" or something : windows don't have any border or shadow around them while using metacity (screen : [link]).
No problem with the emerald theme with compiz.
I don't know if it's related to the theme or to metacity. Have you got any ideas ?

Thank you :D

I think the problem is that compositing is not enabled.

You can use compiz for this or enable metacity built-in compositing: i never used metacity nor gnome so i can't tell you more, but i'm sure you'll find plenty of guides on the net! ;)

I've been looking for a new openbox/gtk theme for 2 days. This one is exactly what I've been looking for. Perfect. Thanks!

Your welcome. Nice theme.
Sorry for the delay.
The scrollbars are fine. I was speaking of the status bar at the bottom of the window manager for example. Also in Thunar the bar dividing the bookmarks and the current folder.

Uhm, i like it this way, but i'll check. ;)
Anyways you can always modify it on your own!
I tried to but didnt find much documentation on modifying gtk themes..

Uh, i looked again at my theme're definitely right. I'll reduce that space as soon as possible (if i manage to!). Thanks for the interest! :)

Done! Now those scrollbars are smaller: it's not a big difference but it's the best i can do.
I hope you like them! And may thanks for your hint! ;)
Running this on both my Arch and Debian box.

Awesome work.

You could just make the bars in applications a bit thinner for smaller resolutions.

Thanks, i really appreciate your comment ;)
Which bars are you talking about? Scrollbars? I actually find them too small to be clicked with the mouse sometimes...
