How to scan pencil?

I really want to upload my 18x24 Dark Knight drawing as well as my soon-to-be finished Superman picture, but my scanner light makes a glare on the graphite. I know I should resort to taking a pic, but I'm worried the quality will suffer! Any suggestions?!!?!?
