Hopefully for her sake, they won't have too many "takes".

I absolutely love the thought of how those classic damsel scenes were made.  Thanks for this!

This must have been for a SILENT MOVIE! Ha! Ha! I guess the boom mic was for struggling sound FX and grunting. This is a very nicely done piece in a cool sepia tone for an old time look. If I was the director, this would been a closed set. Seems like the entire crew came for this shot.

In my mind, they're about to film a scene with the damsel and her captor who has yet to appear.  I am always intrigued about the going-on/behind the scenes stuff when scenes like this are filmed.  Glad you like the look; not supposed to feel old per se, but it was an ancillary image and I didn't want to color it (I hate coloring).

I’ve made amateur films myself, and it’s always been amazing how many HOURS of effort go into the few seconds that make it to the screen. I like to watch movies about Hollywood to get some of those details. A podcast I would recommend to you is YOU MUST REMEMBER THIS. Some fantastic stories on that one like the REAL version of what happened at the party where an actress died and comedian FATTY ARBUCKLE was accused of murder. An old B/W movie THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL is great. A recent Cohen Brothers movie HAIL CAESAR! was very good. A new documentary called SCOTTY AND THE SECRET HISTORY OF HOLLYWOOD is coming out soon and just may blow blow the socks off classic movie fans. Scotty arranged sex partners for the stars of the 20th century. Some will be quite shocked.

I don't get to listen to podcasts much anymore.  I'll try to check it out though.  My only real understanding of Fatty's Downfall was via Hollywood Babylon.  I think it was the first chapter of the book!  They just played Hail Caesar on TV a while back, but I wasn't able to catch it.  And I have def. heard of the Scotty doca and am intrigued.  This is the stuff I love: we live in these bubbles, and then BLAM, someone unearths something that blows the doors off our preconceived notions or what we think is real.  I mean, how many news stories have we had in our lifetime that are reported one way, and we believe it for generations, until we discover we have been lied to?

I like YOU MUST REMEMBER THIS podcast because unlike Kenneth Anger’s HOLLYWOOD BABYLON, the host/writer checks her facts in detail and doesn’t just rehash “fake news” gossip.

When you say truth can be stranger than fiction, that is very true. How many fans of Bob Crane and Hogan’s Heros had their minds blown when his true story and that movie AUTO FOCUS came out about him using early video cameras to make home porno and him getting murdered? He couldn’t figure out why Disney dropped him, his wife divorced him, etc. when he always thought “sex was healthy” .

I just finished watching the Blu-Ray Chappaquiddick about Ted Kennedy and the car “accident” that killed Mary Jo Kopechne and his chances to be president. What a sad story. It’s hard to find anyone in politics that tells the truth anymore. The movie WAG THE DOG is a good example of how the truth can get twisted.

I think all the examples you cite are good ones, but I think there is so much happening in our world that we are not even aware of until someone wants us to know.  Unless, of course, you live through it or have second hand experience.  Especially today, too many people read a headline and consider themselves "experts".  People who know how to fix health care, stop school shootings, improve race relations, etc.  Or the people who get caught on camera doing something questionable... suddenly everyone is an expert simply by watching 45 seconds of phone footage.  Good grief.  Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction, and these are strange times indeed!!

One of the good things about the internet is being able to get alternative news that hasn’t been through the official media filter. I try to be a reasonable person and not a crazy conspiracy fanatic, but the more I see and read, the more I know we are not being told the whole story. One tiny example is the 3 buildings that collapsed on themselves during 9/11. The only way that happens is with special explosives and not with burning jet fuel. The CIA building didn’t even get hit and imploded anyway. The official 9/11 report is right up there on the believability scale as the Warren report on JFK.

Yes, 9-11 is a good example of such things.  Again, we live in a strange world, with so much going on... so many things we will never know or understand.  And yet we argue with strangers on our phones about the same political garbage we've been fighting about for decades.  What a mess!!
