So the last journal I wrote was on 31st December 2017 and laid out my plans for the following year as well as offloading all the negativity I had previous.
So where are we now?
I now have my own place! Yes, it finally happened! 😄
Not far from my workplace, friends or lovely countryside. It's within my budget too which is excellent but no pets allowed so Gypsy will be staying behind. That's not a bad thing though. We've all been helping her with re-adjusting and she is now happy to be downstairs. She still has scraps with one of the new cats but otherwise, she's doing alright.
The other cat we had passed away in January due to heart failure (we seem to be a hospice for animals!) but she had a very good life for the 9 months she was with us. We knew she would die young but her passing was still very sad. We did end up getting another dog as her owner (friend of my Mum) was loosing her battle with cancer and no-one wanted to keep her ageing dog, so naturally, she came to us. She has settled in which is good and our dog has accepted her and will share with her, but will let her know who was here first 😁
Anyway, most of my stuff is either packed up or at my house so I am using my tablet for the time being at my parents house so the emoji's are different. Sorry if they don't come out right. I need to get wifi set up as well all the utilities so that will be sorted on Monday.
I've not been able to get over to the house much due to work and due to the weather as we have had 8 inches of snow here in Hampshire and the wind has created sow drifts which in some areas of the village, have been 10 feet high! Apparently the only time we've had it worse was in the late 60's when the snow was about 20 feet deep and didn't thaw fully until June! The snow now is thawing quite quickly but we have freezing rain on the way which will be interesting. Hopefully the roads will be okay tomorrow after lunch then I can get to my house and continue unpacking.
I know other places have deeper snow and for longer, but as the government here deemed snow a rare event (it happens every couple of years so actually not rare at all) the tools, trainig and equipment needed to cope with it were left unsupported and so were removed or sold off so when we get snow, we can't cope with it! Our grit bin is empty as are all the grit bins in the village so there you go.
I know how to drive in snow so have no issues with it but not everyone else does and become reckless which makes getting around very dangerous so it's safer for me to stay put until some normality returns. So frustrating... 😧
I have been doing okay with 1 book a month but as my books are at my house and not here, I have one book here (Eric by Terry Pratchett) which I will be reading but now I want to read something else... Can't win!
I won't be doing much in the way of photography or art for a while as I get used to living alone, but once I am settled, that should start happening as I will be in peace and quiet without people disturbing me!
Anyway. I need to look for hoovers and microwaves as I haven't got either yet so I will finish here and go do some online shopping. 😉
