Work has been kicking my ass for about a week and will keep kicking my ass for another one. This means I haven't been able to do any more drawings, let alone work on actual pages as I had originally planned. I will resume drawing as soon as possible, and while I won't make a 30 challenge drawings, there will be at least a few more.
But hey, a streak of 15 days still isn't bad. I think doing these challenges helps my creativity and imagination and allows me to experiment more, and on days when I've had time, it's been a lot easier to complete the day's challenge than it would have been a year ago.
30 years ago, a day before my 18th birthday, I was inspired by the then-new collection of Moebius' complete works to simply start drawing a comic page with little in the way of a preconceived idea, and seeing what happens. I was so inspired by Moebius that I ended up imitating some of his ideas as best I could, especially at the start: the muddy landscapes, the strange flying creatures, and I even put in a direct reference to one of his stories by suggesting that in the background, Arzach was being mobbed by creatures on a rock in the mud. I named the human character X!Gloop and his alien friend John Longcoat, even though neither character wo

September will be X!Gloop month! On September 13, 1989, one day before my 18th birthday, I sat down to create an improvised page of a surreal comic called the Grismoon and it's that world that I've been revisiting at a rate of a few pages per year for the past few years. The next daily art challenge will be devoted to the many manifestations of X!Gloop and I will also pick up the pace of updates a little - as long as there are no more crowds!
I'm two weeks into the Nude Toon Creation Daily Drawing Challenge (NTC-Challenge (https://www.deviantart.com/ntc-challenge)) for August 2019. It's been fun and most of the time spent has come out of time that I would otherwise have spent on internet stuff before and after work. I hit a decent streak in the second week. However, the event has been marred by me having been sick for half of it, and it does show a bit in the quality of some of the entries.
But I don't go into a drawing challenge expecting to do my best work; I go in to be challenged, maintain a daily drawing habit, and slowly raise the bar for what I can do in an hour while groggy in the morning or tired in the ev

By supporting my Patreon, you help me make time available to draw more comics! I have several comics on the boil at any time and I would love to be able to update them more frequently, without compromising the art quality; I would also love to be able to work on some new concepts and pay artists to draw script by me. I am a long way from this goal, but every dollar pledged helps!
