lol this drawing is 80 million years old. This red + black dog thing has been my sona for.. 15+ years now. I'm ancient I guess. The color scheme is exactly the kind of edgy bs a tween would think of but everyone got so used to this being my fursona that I just kept it. Over the years the red has gotten toned down and the wings have become optional and simplified (I guess they're more like a wing silhouette than a real wing.)
Basically they are just made up of all the things I like to draw (dog legs, tall ears, long snout, wings) but with my body type, hair style, personality, and clothes. Some people think a lot about what kind of animal represents them but I sure didn't. If I had to make a sona again today they would probably not look much like this at all, tho it'd still basically just be an animal version of me. The one un-truthful detail (other than the fact that I am not as skinny as I was when I drew this lol) is the eyecolor, and that's just because the design needed a little extra contrast that dark eyes weren't providing.
Now that I no longer do commissions/sell at cons I don't need to worry about stuff like branding so this character doesn't get a lot of use. I'd rather draw pics of my other characters I guess!
Here's my sona! I like somali cats, and I like spooky things, so I made her a spooky cat! She's basically based after myself personality wise (but.. y'know.. more cool), and I used my own hair color with her (and used clothes I would like to wear b/c comfy) Sonas can be kind of difficult, but I think once you decide what kind of animal/person/made up creature it'll be, you can decide what general aesthetic or mood you feel you like best and kind of make them match that! If that makes sense ;w;
This is one of my new sonas here for a group/species im working on. She still needs a name unfortunately. ( slowly but surely!) shes has my fave colors and she is make up of healing and water elements as well~
the idea came from an irl puppy toy ive had for a really long time, and i still sleep with it everyday. the name i chose is a bit of a play on words it sounds like "puppy" when you pronounce her name in french, and the word means "doll" ;u;
This is Scorch! I sort of just....drew him. I remember I sat down and wanted to draw something like Bambi, and later ended up making a species based off of him. He is my main sona right now! I just love how dainty and fluffy he is. ♥ As it stands, Scorch is a representation of myself after I came out to my friends as transgender! He holds a very special and important part to my identity.
My less used sona is Jazz! Originally, I saw this design on FA in a reminder post, and immediately had a mighty need, and adopted them as a sona. I made Jazz part of another species of mine called Mimics, and I use Jazz as a more current representation of myself. I still identify as transgender but I am content with my body enough that I don't have a need or want for transition and hormones, so with Jazz being a Mimic, I use them to freely express myself in feminine ways (example: YCHs where Jazz is drawn freely as presenting totally female or totally male) the way Scorch cannot represent me, since as a sona, he's dmab and always will be (though I feel I should have made him dfab f-to-m now, I am going to keep him as dmab).
I have a retired sona called Lilith, and she represents me/my life before I came out as trans and before I really considered my gender identity.
I do have a fourth named Enigma but they're a fusion between Scorch and Lilith and represent my...darker times in life and deeper personal struggles with a lot of things
Lilith and Enigma are more used for symbolism now, and not as active sonas as much as Scorch and Jazz are. Enigma is more used in negative emotive artworks and vent art..thankfully I haven't needed to draw vent art lately.
they're a weird cat thing. i invented them because i love cats, black-grey gradients, galaxies, and the color purple, so i combined them a little. they were also inspired by the owl city song "cave in".
my advice: think about songs and things you find pleasing, cool stuff you know, and look at pictures of them together while you're working on it.
It has taken me many years to narrow down a design I like XD. She's a river spirit born under the element of water. She maintains the safety of the forest creatures that live nearby, and has been known to wander to the aether fields, a biome of pinkish gases so dense that whales can fly in it, and weightlessness is a way of life.
To be honest, I could babble about it for hours XD
But I have a question? Do you ever open interpretive commissions? Such as a commission where I would give you her image and ask you for your interpretation of her as a humanoid. I would love to get one if you ever open for them .♡.
Hey there! What a lovely sona <3 Gorgeous!! Yes I would definitely be willing to do an interpretive commission! I'd be willing to do one where I sketch it out based off of my interpretation however, there might be a slight increase in price depending on how detailed you want the design to be!
It however, won't work as a custom but mainly off of my own interpretation of her!! (You will see a sketch of course, but it won't work like a custom where I normally would go back and forth with clients to make sure every little detail is prefect!)
Her appearance stems from my mascot oc ikusa! I love short hair on girls so i basically chopped off ikusas ponytail and threw on some dog ears! Im very much a dog person and i feel like i relate most to that kind of animal since theyre very loyal and can be kind creatures!
I basically just took all the things i like, dogs, a bubbly nature, and the color orange and designed a mascot type look ^ v ^
