Hey how's it going? I hope y'all doing well.
I recently looked for some hack-and-slash rpg games just to release stress beating the crap out out monsters. I usually play more open-world, story driven rpg which has decent mix of both action, character development and a lot of quests (Example: Skyrim) . However, my interest at the moment leans towards a more linear, strictly action rpgs . The last game of the described genre I played until completed was Castlevania: Lord of Shadows (99% completed bcoz the extra last boss the Forgotten is ridicolously hard). Then I recalled this popular game series Dark Souls..
seems like it matches the descripption I need, lets thrash some trashes!Damn i was wrong big time..
This game easily ranked very hard in the difficulty list of all games.. maybe a special hard rank specifically for it. "Death is an aspect of gameplay and a major part of Dark Souls and Dark Souls II. Death is very common and occurs very often in the game"; Direct copy paste from the wiki itself :S Mistake is very punishing and I am talking about against common skeletons (I died 10+ times against them) not yet the bosses. Most of the other part is good tho, only the fighting is very challenging before you get used to it. After you get used to the mechanics, timing and the monster's behaviour maybe things will get better (but you will still easily dead if you let your guard down). The only thing I hate is the save system. When you die, the monster reset and its irritating to repeat the long walks and fight back the mobs.
Im currently reading the walkthrough but I doubt things will get easier. Maybe slightly. The game has a bit of exploration of the surroundings but its still count as a linear progression. If you like a freakin challenging rpg, this game is absolutely meant for you. With that, I close my gaming rant. Thanks for reading and I see on the next Syzrgy Chp. 2 page which is in active progress :3. Ciao!
