Skull Island Line Up

During the 3 years or so I worked at Kiwi Inc I had the opportunity to do a TON of character design. I can't lie about it... I LOVED being able to do so!
Working at a company that produces mobile games has a huge advantage over a movie studio... and that is the sheer amount of character that you end up producing. Movie studios offer the experience of becoming a master at polishing tasks, but usually over a small number of characters.
Anyway, this is not a games studio vs movie studio essay, lets just leave it at "they both offer unique experiences"

This game is called "Skull Island", and sadly my friends, you cannot look for it on Google play since Kiwi inc never actually launched it . This cancellations happen for a number of reasons, sometimes the timing isn't right, the numbers don't add up for a profit or whatever.
This game was based on the story of tarzan... the product managers wanted the characters to look somehow disney, but at the same time nothing like it (hows that for a challenge?) and me and the art team composed of Luigi Lucarelli, Kelly Perry and Shawn Peters ended up creating tons of concepts for that goal. Ultimatelly I took over the final polish task and did a whole new pass on the ideas that worked best on our opinion. 
I think this level of presentation is good enough to show you guys what the final line up would have looked like had the game launched. These are not at the point where I would call them "Ready" but the level of polish is actually pretty interesting to look at, so, here you go!.
I'll leave it up to you to figure out what each character roll was supposed to be... ultimately, that is my job as a character designer right? to make designs that can tell a story
