When we started this group, nearly 9 years ago, I don't think we realized at the time just how many people would completely fail to follow the rules and instructions for submitting.
Back when we were a very active group, it became pretty clear that asking people to resubmit their work to the right category, or sifting through all the items that didn't even have red hair or freckles in them, would be a pretty big time commitment that we weren't willing to make. So, we just started rejecting all submissions that went to the wrong category.
I'll admit that we don't check the submissions to this group nearly as often as we used to.
The reason for that is both because of changing priorities in terms of time, and because deviantart as a venue for sharing creative works with broad audiences and building like-minded communities is a dream that died nearly as long ago as this group was created - which makes it a less fun place to hang out and check on your old groups.
But as I said, I do still check the group submissions now and then, and I typically find that maybe 1 out of every 30 submissions is submitted to the correct category, or fits the restrictions.
FYI, those restrictions are:
* natural hair colours only - and specifically ginger shades like strawberry blonde, auburn, and the like.
* all freckles, regardless of hair colour - but especially on the face.
* drawings, paintings and digital art go ONLY in the Traditional and Digital category.
* nudes and pinups are for photographs only. And nudes and pinups only - obviously.
So, is this group dead?
Not really. You've just all been very, very bad at submitting work to the right categories for the last five years or so, and this is me finally doing something about it.
