Motorola StarTAC 85-R cell phone from 1996, also known as the Motorola Rainbow StarTAC.
When Motorola launched the StarTAC series of cell phones in 1996, it was the smallest and lightest cell phone in the world. It retailed for $1000, making it by far the most expensive cell phone of its era.
This example is the rare model 85-R, also known as the Rainbow StarTAC due to the phones color scheme.

The phone measures only 98 x 57 x 23 mm.
The Rainbow StarTAC is a GSM phone, operating GSM 900MHz.

I think :iconcanona2200: was asking me about these some months ago.  Very cool model!  I have a bunch of StarTAC's but nothing rare like this.

The Rainbow StarTAC was only available for the European GSM networks, no US version of this model was ever made.

I know. Doesn't mean it isn't available though. I have Malaysian, Saudi Arabian, Japanese, Canadian, German, and Swedish phones :P
