The twin suns of Bark-ooine had barely peeked over the eastern dunes when the quiet morning air of the Lars Homestead was shattered by the roar of an engine.
Shooting out of the subterranean garage and launching into the open desert was Marshall's landspeeder. It was a sleek, hovering vehicle painted a bright, fire-engine red, though the paint was heavily chipped from years of sandstorms. It glided smoothly a few feet above the desert floor, leaving a billowing trail of golden dust in its wake.
Marshall sat in the driver's seat, his paws firmly gripping the steering yoke. He wore his white tunic and a pair of tinted driving goggles, his spotted Dalmatian ears flapping wildly in the rushing wind.
