My therapist, Dr. Michael Chen, has been bugging me to keep a diary (oh wait, “prepare a journal”) for months. He promises it will “articulate my thoughts and feelings,” “relieve stress,” and “improve my self-awareness.” I’m not sure about all that. At least it will get him off my back. That alone may relieve some stress. One thing I know it won’t do is “identify my problems” (another journal benefit Dr. Chen espouses). I already know what my problem is.
