Hello! Long time no see... Same old useless-at-keeping-up-to-date-me! :D

I've been exploring ZBrush lately, and wanted to drop off this image I'm particularly proud of (and the others soon) ... (and some more Spore creations)

Here's the entire process for anyone that is interested; www.youtube.com/watch?v=2UjEdb…
Alternatively, here's my ArtStation submission as well, which shows some more shots of this beastie - www.artstation.com/artwork/4e3…
And finally, SketchFab - sketchfab.com/models/c35a5667b…

These are just incredible - you've really mastered these organic carapaces and alien forms o-o

Could you make Zim on spore to mark the return of invader zim? Also, this is so cool! How do you do it?

Thank you! And I do it with plenty of improvising and playing around with the program :D
No promises on making Zim, but I might be able to cook up something for it

Yay, thank you for replying! ^^

And I'm guessing you look up references for different lizards as well? I tend to look up reference when I create something, but often times it comes out looking very unpleasant and freakish. ^^;

No probs! And sometimes I do use references, especially when it comes to feet/claws, musculature and sometimes the mouth/beak/teeth. They can be so useful :D but I don't follow them exactly, especially when it comes to a made-up creature... at least with a made-up one, you can't really go too wrong, imo! What part of your creatures come out looking unpleasant?

For me, it's usually the shoulders and the look of the mouth. It can also be the torso being too fat/skinny. XD oh, and hair. Hair is painful for me to do.

I try to Use reference from human hair and lion manes, but that can only get me so far in sculptris xD

Ah yeah I get you there. Especially hair, I can't imagine trying to tackle that in ZBrush, let alone Sculptris D:

I tried it with skulptria and learned what sculptris can and cant do xD

What it can do: make great faces and put different spheres inside other spheres

What it can't do: position hair to make it look like hair. Instead, it looks like an egg was cracked over the top of the model's head

In your opinion, what's the difference between ZBrush and Sculptris? Anyways, love your art!

Thank you! :) and the difference... imagine comparing Adobe Photoshop to MS Paint. One is really simple and easy to use and you can get some modest results, the other is incredibly complicated with a tonne of features, making the simplest thing sometimes feel harder, and yet vastly more rewarding.

ZBrush simply gives you a tonne of options, tools, features and brushes, far higher detail and better performance, and the option to constantly switch back and forth between different symmetry modes, and to switch in and out of sculpting and painting.
