Here you will find the information on both species that inhabit the Island. Sindows and Sivtag Hounds

Sindows have three available subspecies and Siva's only have one.

Do these species interact?: If they come across each other. They do not speak the same language. To most Sindows, Sivatag Hounds are trifling as they do compete for food. They typically don't seek each other out to attack and kill, but if a Siva(s) stray too far into a Sindow territory, then they will be run out or killed. The same thing can go for Sindows, but only if there is a single Sindow and a pack of Siva's as Sivatag Hounds are a smaller species.

These species do not come together naturally and should not be depicted being friends. Siva's are not part of Sindow packs and Sindows are not welcome in Siva packs.

General Behavior: Both Sivatag Hounds and Sindows are pack animals, generally living in large groups. However, there are some instances where they would rather be loners or have small packs.

Sindows are a little more intelligent than the Sivatag Hound. Sindows have a more integrated social system then Sivatags do. Sindows have packs, but can also form nations, which are a collection of packs that have the same beliefs and so on. Sivatag Hounds will not form nations and just live in their packs and go about their lives.

More detailed information can be found in each species information below:

:bulletgreen:The Sindow:bulletgreen:

Standard Sindow:

Average Height: 173 cm - 192 cm (5'7" - 6'3") (heights are measured at the shoulder, not the top of the head).
Average Weight: 1,000- 2,000 Pounds
Average Length: 18-20 feet
Diet: They are carnivorous, eating any source of protein they can find, though preferring fresh meat, they will scavenge from time to time. Eggs, rodents, and other small creatures are not out of their range.  If times are tough, Sindows will supplement their diets with fruit, roots, berries, bark, and other plants.
Lifespan: 20-25
Litter Size: 1-6
Top Speed: 100+mph

Physical Characteristics: Standards are long, light, and slim. They are built for speed and can sprint at up to 90mph or more. They have excellent stamina as well and are very intelligent. Standards come in four different coat lengths. They are completely furred, except for the head and the hind legs below the knee.

Behaviour: Each Sindow has their own personality. In general they are active creatures. They are more active during the day than the night. Some enjoy the company of other Sindows and others don't. To communicate, they make a variety of hisses, growls, purrs, snorts. The two most prevalent calls they make are a cheetah-like chirp, to call to one another, and a bark-like noise to challenge rivals and scare off newcomers. They have evolved to speak to one another, like two people would talk and make the growls, hisses, and purrs like normal as well. However, they don't speak english or any human language, if a human were to hear it, it would still sound like animal noises.

All Sindows speak the same language, however there are different dialects depending on where you go on the island and what Nation you are in. Some Nations and packs have different words for different things and so on and so forth.

Generally, as a pack, they do have a hierarchy system with alpha, beta, and so on and so forth, however, they are an intelligent species and some packs are not ruled this way. You can choose how your want your pack structure set up, there is no set 'ranking' that your Sindow has to be. Nations are groups of packs that take up the same general territory and have come together to create a larger force. Nations have a lead pack, but how they run is up to you.

Caring for Young: The female generally cares for the young, called Cublings. Some males are very maternal, though and take great care in their offspring. The cublings are live born, their eyes and ears are open, and they are able to run mere hours after being born. They eat meat right from the start, it's normally regurgitated from the mother.

Terms
Under 1 yr, both genders - Cubling
1 yr, both genders - Yearling
Under to one yr, female - Filly
Under to one yr, male - Colt
Over 1 year Male - Stallion/Sire
Over 1 year Female - Mare/Dam

:bulletpurple:The Variant:bulletpurple:

Variants are slimmer and smaller than the standard Sindow. What makes them different is the stature and where the hair covers.

Average Height: 155 cm - 167cm (5'5" to 5'10") (heights are measured at the shoulder, not the top of the head).
Average Weight: 1,000-1,500 Pounds
Average Length: 18-20 feet
Diet: They are carnivorous, eating any source of protein they can find, though preferring fresh meat, they will scavenge from time to time. Eggs, rodents, and other small creatures are not out of their range. Due to their delicate structure, Variants tend to scavenge more or kill smaller prey. If times are tough, Sindows will supplement their diets with fruit, roots, berries, bark, and other plants.
Lifespan: 20-25
Litter Size: 1-6
Top Speed: 100+mph

Physical Characteristics: Variants are still long, light, and slim. They look more delicate than a standard. The back end is completely reptilian, also meaning that all the reproductive organs are on the inside, like that of reptiles. There is no way to tell which is female and which is male from the outside, but they can smell the difference.

*all other info is the same as standards*

:bulletpurple:The Draft:bulletpurple:

The draft is more heavily built and larger in stature than the standard and variant.

Average Height: 168cm - 207cm (5'11" - 6'8") (heights are measured at the shoulder, not the top of the head).
Average Weight: 1,500-2,500 Pounds
Average Length: 12-15 feet
Diet: They are carnivorous, eating any source of protein they can find, though preferring fresh meat, they will scavenge from time to time. Eggs, rodents, and other small creatures are not out of their range. Can take down bigger prey more easily. If times are tough, Sindows will supplement their diets with fruit, roots, berries, bark, and other plants.
Lifespan: 20-25
Litter Size: 1-6
Top Speed: 70 - 80 Max (Not as fast as the variant and standard)

Physical Characteristics: Drafts, like draft horses, are stocky, broader, and shorter length wise. They are built to be strong. Although they were not meant to be runners and jumpers, they are actually very nimble and agile. They share all the same coat lengths as standards.

*all the other information is the same*

The Sivatag Hound:

Average Height: 91-137 cm (3 to 4.5 ft) (heights are measured at the shoulder, not the top of the head).

Lifespan: 15-20 years
Litter Size: 1-6
Top Speed: 55-60 MPH

Physical Characteristics: Sivas are smaller mammals and have long bodies, built similarly to a greyhound, but stockier. They also have long faces and wide-hinging jaws just like that of a thylacine. They are very cat-like in nature. They don't pant like dogs, unless they are completely exhausted. So yes, they have sweat glands. The tail is long and very feline. They don't necessarily wag it when they are happy. They may wave it, like cats do, or hold it curled up over their back.

Siva tails are a very important form of their communication. Each Sivatag hound has tail marks, no matter the genetics. Each tail mark is different and Sivatag's use this as an indetifier, born from their origins in hot, grassy regions where the tail was the only thing to be seen, as they typically walk with it curled up over their back, much like leopards.

Siva's emit a range of barks, chuffs, and growls. They are also known for making a very eerie wailing howl and a scream that is similar to that of a fox. They have their own language and have evovled speak to one another like humans, but use the natural animal-like sounds they have to enhance their speech. However, they don't speak english or any human language, if a human were to hear it, it would still sound like animal noises.

Siva's are very good jumpers and runners. The claws are dull and do not retract. They are not avid tree climbers, but if they can jump into one they will.

They have a very good sense of smell and have clear nighttime vision. They see in color.

Behavior: Sivatag Hounds make up packs that can range in number from very large to just a few Sivatags. They are intelligent, but not on the same level as Sindows. Their pack hierarchy is similar to wolves, with an alpha, beta, etc... but you can designate your ranks how you want.

They are typically crespecular, active in the morning and evening hours, using those hours to hunt. They will typically have midday siesta's, relaxing after their dawn hunt and then preparing to go out in the evening. They are active into the night, but typically again, have a relaxing period in the middle somehwere.

Packs can be friendly towards one another or violent towards one another. If you have more than one pack it's up to you to decide how you want them to interact.
