This is a basic outline of Aigeelan lore/history. I hope to make guides on Ancients, Primals, and Aigeelan Culture.
The Guardians - Powers that Be
Long ago, in a swirl of dust and water, a dead land appeared in the middle of the sea. It is said that the Guardian of Earth was lonely and raised a bit of land to put her feet on after treading in the waters that Water Guardian had made at the very beginning. Both land and sea made homes for the more lofty Guardians, of Air and Fire. They too touched their feet to the land. Once they had done so, the dead land was dead no more. Out of land and sea came the Nature Guardian. Out of Air and Fire came Light and Shadow, twins to balance for eternity the fate of the many. During this time, two more Guardians appeared, one out of a quarrel between the sky and the sea. The Lightning Guardian was created in their tumultuous anger, but when the first bolt struck, the air and the sea stopped their arguing. The last to come into knowing was the Arcane Guardian, who was not created from the essence of the others. The Arcane seeped up from the ground, beckoned by Shadow, who knew she had been there all along, just waiting. There was balance between them and no more quarrels to be had.
They ruled their land, naming it Aigeela, and it soon became apparent that it was not a realm without those to enjoy it. In their likes, the Guardians created the Primals, the first beings to walk the land of Aigeela. They are ancient and sentient, some choosing a life of wild abandon, following their animal instincts. Others chose to use their sentience, creating a more civilized way of living. And some fell in between. The Primals are Steinnulfr, Arkos, Windcutters, Cervimultis, Biolumis, and Cliff Divers. They are respected among the other cultures of Aigeela, though some, the ones called 'Lopers in the tongue of the Primals, have come from other realms and chosen to stay in Aigeela. They of course were sentient as well and had cultures of their own, they called themselves Ancients. Ancients comprise of the other species in Aigeela, the Elves, Humans, Harpies, Centaurs, and Dwarves.
Primals vs. Ancients - The War of Chaos
Some Ancients began to cause problems. They believed they had the right to the land that they 'founded', treating Primals like animals. They didn't believe in the Guardians, but their own deities instead, not realizing that their deities had no power in the realm of Aigeela. There were Ancients who sided with Primals, not believing that there was any difference between them, only that they looked different in appearance. Soon, Aigeela became a battle ground, there was chaos, fighting, and bloodshed. The Guardians couldn't sit back and watch their children and those they had welcomed into their land fight.
Into Eternal Slumber
The Guardians rose up, they banded together, raising the walls of the realm so no more could come through. Only those of true heart and open mind could find the small gateways they left, so that hopefully, Aigeela would not be lost completely. It took a lot of their energy, to do something so great. They began to tire and by the time the barriers had been raised, they were drained. Each Guardian found a place to rest, taking their most faithful children with them, creating the Nine Kingdoms that Aigeela now has today. As as they closed their eyes they let out one final burst of power, wiping the memory of those who wished to cause harm still, who wished to try and conquer. They fell into harmony with those who wished peace.
It is said that the Guardians will sleep on, their resting protective energy keeping their lands safe.
The Collective Memory
Each Kingdom keeps the ancient scrolls recanting the tales and memory of the first events in Aigeela. The Laws that Be were created in the memory of the Gaurdians, to keep peace and prosperity. Many hundreds of years passed. These scrolls were tucked away and slowly, the Powers that Be were lost to time. There are places, deep hidden places where the Guardian magic is still strong. Their energies have dimmed with time as they were forgotten. They sacrificed their conscious to save their realm, thinking one day they would be re-awoken by their children. And in those pockets of hidden magic, some followers still remain devout. Most have forgotten magic and the way things used to be. Guardian magic still pops up in physical manifestation through Power Stones, which allow Aigeelan's to once more learn magic that used to be inborn in them.
Presently, Aigeela is running well. Over years, tensions have risen between certain Kingdoms and others have always been allies. In the Guardians absence, a lot of Aigeelans have fallen into three categories, those who believe only in what they see, those who have made their own beliefs, and those who still be believe (even it's with a grain of salt) that the Guardians still slumber.
There are wild lands where Primals still go about their daily lives as animals, but with keen intelligence of course. They choose a more tribal way of living because they do not like the constructs of civilization. There are those who live within cities and towns, constructing their own houses and businesses. And of course there are those who are inbetween tribal and civilized.
For now, peace lasts, but dark workings are afoot.
