While re-watching the films Marvel Cinematic Universe, I noticed that they had some plot holes and inconsistencies. What? You thought I was going to pick apart the plot holes in the 20th Century Fox X-Men universe? No. I decided to write an article specifically about what plot holes were in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Probably no one before me has made a single article or video on this topic. And today in this article I would like to tell you about them. I will talk about each plot hole one by one and in order.
Plot Hole 1: Bruce Banner and Hulk's facial appearance
This is the most noticeable thing when you think about the entire movie universe. Kevin Feige assures us all that the 2008 film The Incredible Hulk is considered canon for this movie universe. But there are some inconsistencies and they have to do with the actor's face. The thing is that in the solo film, Bruce Banner was played by Edward Northan himself, who even had his own point of view on how the Hulk films should develop. But then he was fired and replaced by Mark Rufalo, who is different from Edward in appearance and face. Even in hair. They do not look alike at all. They are two different characters. It feels like The Incredible Hulk actually takes place in an alternate universe, given the alternate beginning where in Antarctica, Captain America's shield is seen in the ice on the outside, while in his solo film, it was revealed that he was inside the HYDRA plane with the shield. And Kevin Feige didn't even explain properly why both Hulks are different if the film is canon for the cinematic universe? And don't tell me that he might have had plastic surgery on his face! As was shown in the scene when Bruce and Betty wanted to kiss in bed, Bruce was worried and his blood pressure jumped, which could cause Hulk to break out again and take over his mind. That is, even if he wanted to do plastic surgery on his face and hair, he wouldn't have been able to do it, because Hulk would immediately break out again and run away, and Bruce himself would never have had any plastic surgery on his face, because Hulk himself wouldn't let him do it. So there's no way to explain this plot hole properly! I would understand if the Hulk movie was completely deleted from the canon and its events took place in some other universe. But no!
Plot Hole 2: How did Banner manage to cope with his split personality and become Professor Hulk?
When promotional art with Hulk in a scientist outfit appeared and was posted online before the release of the film "Avengers: Endgame", fans immediately guessed that this was Professor Hulk. And many were waiting for the film to show how exactly Bruce was able to figure out his split personality and become the Hulk of his own free will, while maintaining his mind. But no! When the film came out, unfortunately, this was never explained to us. And the whole thing is that this was originally supposed to be explained during the battle in Wakanda at the end of the film "Avengers: Infinity War". There was originally supposed to be a scene where Bruce couldn't handle the Chitauri army in the Hulkbuster and was almost dying, after which he asks Hulk for forgiveness inside his head and even confesses his love to him, to which the Hulk personality almost cries and eventually breaks out, and the minds of both Bruce and Hulk merged and became a single mind, after which Bruce Banner was supposed to become the Hulk himself while retaining his personality and control over his body. I would understand if this scene hadn't been cut and left in the film. But no. It was cut, which means this scene is no longer canon, and we were never really shown how Bruce was eventually able to control himself and become Professor Hulk. The writers thus spat in our faces and said: "Sort it out yourselves! We don't give a damn!"
Plot Hole 3: Where are the other superheroes when you need them?
After the incredibly spectacular release of the film "The Avengers" in 2012, each subsequent film, fans asked themselves one single question: "Wow! What a mess! If only the Avengers would help now!" But unfortunately, they invariably remained behind the scenes when their help was needed. For example, in "Iron Man 3", when the entire Trash Can was under threat of the tyranny of the pseudo-Mandarin, did no one think to intervene and help people? And in the film "Captain America: The Other War", HYDRA almost seized all power over the world. And why couldn't the same Iron Man with his satellites detect the same Red Room in Russia earlier and stop her insidious atrocities himself before Natasha Romanoff? But when the film "Captain America: Civil War" was released, all the heroes gathered there for some reason, although then the world was not in danger. This is a real and huge plot hole that can be seen in every single and solo movie, apart from the crossovers in Avengers. And when the movie "Eternals" came out, it was completely unclear why the Eternals themselves couldn't intervene and help the Avengers defeat Thanos and prevent him from collecting all the Infinity Stones?
He's a Titan, damn it, just like the Eternals, which means they could have gone out to fight him and helped the Avengers defeat him in no time! Yes, I understand that they were forbidden to interfere in the affairs of people and their wars. But the Infinity War was at stake then. Plus, Thanos could have erased one of the Eternals with a snap. Didn't they care? They should have immediately realized that this could happen and, in order to prevent themselves from disappearing from Thanos' snap, they would have broken their promise to the Celestials to stop the mad titan. Why didn't Nick Fury immediately call Captain Marvel in the first Avengers movie to help the Avengers defeat all the Chitauri and stop Loki in no time? She probably wouldn't mind and would consider this disaster an emergency and would immediately fly in to help the Avengers. It's not clear where the Fantastic Four were, since in the movie "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" Ridd Richards from that team was shown and mentioned his team along with his wife and children. And where are the Inhumans? Where are the X-Men? Why didn't any of them show up, interfere or try to help any of the humans or other heroes? So many questions and not a single answer! I don't even know how Marvel Studios and Feige will explain their absence in their new films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Surely they will also make even more plot holes by making up some nonsense.
Yes, maybe I'm just being picky and then the plots of the movies with epic scenes wouldn't happen. But still! The events should be logical, plausible and without plot holes to explain why certain heroes weren't there and didn't intervene to help? Or should they be added anyway!
Plot Hole 4: Is the Marvel Cinematic Universe Earth-199999 or Earth-616?
This plot hole appeared in the movie Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. When Strange and America get to another universe on Earth-838, there Strange's alternate girlfriend Dr. Christina Palmer tells him that they all live on Earth-838, and Strange ALLEGEDLY came from Earth-616. WHAT THE HELLING CRAP IS THIS??? This improvisation and error appeared due to the fault of director Sam Raimi, who did not know anything normal about the Marvel Multiverse and its worlds. For a long time, all fans have officially known that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is Earth-199999. This universe does not have any number 616 and nothing like this has been officially announced. The MCU, as it was called, was called 199999. Hell, even Megel O'Hara in the cartoon "Spider-Man: Web of Verses" mentioned this universe as Earth-199999, mentioning the events from the movie "Spider-Man: No Way Home!", when Strange, due to Peter's fault, accidentally ruined his oblivion spell and almost destroyed his world by summoning all the characters from other universes who know that Peter Parker is Spider-Man. The MCU is Earth-199999, and not some fucking Earth-616. Moreover, the six hundred and sixteenth number is borne by the original comic book universe, with which the entire multiverse began and which began with the comic book where Spider-Man first appeared.
You will of course say that in the movie "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" these universes also have numbers, like the comics. And I will answer you. Yes, the universes have some of the same numbers, but they have the English letter "B" at the end of the numbering, so as not to confuse them with the original universes, which have had such numbers for a long time. That is, for example, the same Spider-Gwen in the film is not from Earth-65, but from Earth-65B. Even the official Marvel Wiki called "Marvelpedia" says this. And there the Marvel Cinematic Universe still has the number Earth-199999. This universe does not have any Earth-616 in the numbering at all. In the film "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" this is a big plot hole that Sam Raimi stupidly did not take into account. He even, like a brainless person, called in the audio commentary in the film Strange the Defender from the beginning of the film, ALLEGEDLY Strange from Earth-617, although in fact this number has long been occupied by another universe, and on the same official Marvelpedia it is said that this Strange is actually from Earth-TNR953. So stop lying and making up that the MCU ALLEGEDLY is Earth 616! It is Earth-199999! The events of the films from Earth-199999 cannot take place on Earth-616 and be connected with the events of the comics from that Earth, since otherwise it will create even more plot holes. And in my opinion, the sequel to the film about Doctor Strange should have been called like this: "Doctor Strange: Plot Hole"!
Plot Hole 5: How did Hulk become everyone's favorite gladiator on Sakar?
A question I personally always asked myself after watching "Thor: Rognarok". How did Hulk get to Sakar on a quinjet? And why did he decide to go there? He had no reason or thought to go there. He went there simply because the script told him to. And it's not clear where the Red King is on the planet. Why doesn't he rule this planet instead of some Grand Master, as was canon in the Planet Hulk comic? Where was the Red King? Why did Hulk suddenly become loved on this planet because he became a gladiator and why did he become the Grand Master's favorite? And who did he sleep with there that he eventually gave birth to the Gray Hulk named Scar, who was shown in the She-Hulk TV series? So many questions and not a single answer!
Plot Hole 6: Dreams are visions of other universes through the eyes of their counterparts who live there.
We're back to "Doctor Strange: Plot Hole" In that movie, America tells Strange from Earth-199999 that what he saw in his dream was not actually a dream, but a vision from his doppelganger from an alternate universe. Even Scarlet Witch had this and every night she saw events in her dreams from the perspective of Wanda from Earth-838, where she doesn't have Vision, but she has children. So the MCU writers want to tell us that the dreams we see at night when we sleep are not actually dreams, but real events that happened somewhere in another universe? But how then can we explain those dreams, for example, nightmares, where we kind of die or where we are left alone or where everything disappears and the whole world perishes, for example turning into Hell. Are these universes supposedly bad and are automatically destroyed? Okay, let's assume! But why then does this happen there? And won't such a catastrophe also visit our real world out of the blue? And then. A dream is not a TV to watch how my double is doing in another universe from the first person. A dream is an unexpected phenomenon that we can also influence with our consciousness and change it for ourselves, if we realize that we are in a dream and can change the dream in our own way, like Gods.
Plot Hole 7: Are these all the Spider-Men that could appear?
With the release of the film "Spider-Man: No Way Home!" we were happy to see the spiders of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, but this also raised questions. Like: Why exactly did they appear on Earth-199999? Why, for example, did not other versions of spider-people from animated series, comics or cartoons, or even games arrive? Well, or at least why did not other movie spiders appear in addition to the spiders of Tobey and Andrew. For example, the Japanese Spider-Man from the Japanese TV series or the Spider-Man from the TV movies played by Nicholas Hammond. In addition, even before the release of this film, Nicholas complained to the Marvel studio itself that they did not invite him to also play the role of his old Spider-Man in this film. To be honest, this also upset me, and you? In any case, the question regarding this plot hole is clear. Why didn't other Spider-Men appear, but only Toby and Andrew's spiders, as if by coincidence, just to please the fans of these spiders. In any case, it is not clear why these spiders were transported to Earth-199999. And why spiders, if Strange's spell sent to their universe only those who know that Peter Parker is Spider-Man? Spider-Man himself from another universe should not be considered, since he himself has known this from the very beginning for a long time, because he himself is Spider-Man. After all, logically, in this case, most of the Spider-Men should have been transported to Earth-199999. Including Megel O'Hara himself from the film "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse".
Plot Hole 8: How did Adrian Toomes from the Marvel Cinematic Universe end up in Sony's Marvel Universe?
Another plot hole related to "Spider-Man: No Way Home!" and "Morbius", which is already part of the Sony Cinematic Universe. This plot hole is that Adrian Thumps from Earth-199999 ended up in the Sony Marvel Universe. But why did he get transported there when Strange conjured up a spell to make everyone forget Peter Parker? He lives in the MCU and wasn't an alien from another universe at all. So why was he transported back to their worlds along with the reformed villains, or more precisely, why was Thumps transported to the Venom and Morbius universe? And how could Venom himself get from there to the MCU if neither he nor Eddie Brock in that universe have ever met Peter Parker, don't know him, and don't even know who Spider-Man is or that this is Peter Parker. So many questions, and again, no single answer.
Plot Hole 9: Cosmo
Well, to be more precise, it's not really a plot hole, but rather just a nitpick about the character. Cosmo is a Soviet telepathic dog from the USSR, who was sent into space and who was captured by a certain collector, who, like Thanos, was trying to collect all the infinity stones. The question is one. How did this dog, after the destruction of the collector's collection, escape from him and end up on the moving shuttle of the Devastators, where she joined the Guardians of the Galaxy? And how could she know that this is where she can live and that they will accept her and allow her to live with her. It is especially disgusting to hear that Cosmo insults normal Soviet people. YOU CAN'T DO THAT!!! YOU'RE A BAD DOG!!! YOU'RE BAD!!! In any case, the fact that the dog insults communists is also a plot hole and disrespect, since she was born and lived in the USSR. Logically, this dog should have loved, respected and appreciated the communists. Shouldn't it?
Plot Hole 10: Counter-Earth (Anti-Earth)
As for Counter-Earth or Anti-Earth, as you like, this planet appeared in comics and even in the animated series "Spider-Man Unlimited". And this planet is known for the fact that, according to theory, if it really existed and rotated in the same orbit as our Earth, it would be behind the back side of the Sun and rotate in the same orbit at the same speed. Therefore, we would not see it and would not notice it. But according to the events of the films, it was already 2024. Then scientists, despite the snap of Thanos, who erased half the universe temporarily for five years, probably improved and began to send satellites and probes behind the back side of the sun and should have noticed that very Anti-Earth and discovered it in advance, in order to then send astronauts there to investigate and study this planet. However, the Guardians of the Galaxy are the only ones who flew there to look for the High Evolutionary to save Rocket. Why haven't scientists from regular Earth noticed Counter-Earth long ago and sent scientists or military personnel there first, in case the Evolutionary starts fighting them off and defending his planet from them?
Plot Hole 11: Why wasn't Adam released earlier?
This is even more complicated. According to the Queen, Adam was just born and not yet fully ready. But this is strange, because in fact he could have been trained for longer and born much earlier. So why wasn't Adam born, trained much faster and sent to search for the Guardians of the Galaxy much earlier, right after the events of the second part of the film? Surely he could have been born earlier, quickly and in advance trained in everything, and only then sent. No one and nothing interfered. Even the High Evolutionary demanded that they quickly free him from the capsule and set him on the Guardians so that he would get Rocket for him and return it. And I will not believe for a second that in all these seven years Adam could not have been properly trained and immediately sent to search for the Guardians of the Galaxy. James Gunn still needed to write his script for the third film better!
Plot Hole 12: Gorr's motivation
The villain's motivation is the most important thing, and the main thing is that it should be more believable and understandable to the viewer. In essence, you can understand him. He lost his daughter and blames the Gods for this, who did not help him and his daughter. And now he threatens to kill all the Gods in order to get some essence of desires and make a wish for absolutely all the Gods to disappear forever. However, there is a plot hole here too. After all, in the end, he will come to his senses and ask Thor himself to make a wish. But why? Are the Gods to blame for not noticing him and his daughter in time and not having time to help? What if all the Gods disappear, then others like him and his daughter will also suffer and die? And he himself will be to blame for this! Here, on the contrary, it was necessary to achieve the goal of bringing his daughter back to life and living the rest of his life with her.
Plot Hole 13: Why is no one trying to remember Peter Parker?
It's clear that in the movie "Spider-Man: No Way Home!" Strange erased everyone's memory and that's why no one remembers him now. But Strange erased exactly the memory, but not the videos and photos. Surely Peter still has a passport or photos with his album. And other people also have photos and videos where Peter himself was and where someone accidentally greeted him, as if they had known him for a long time. Even at school, in one of the deleted scenes, there was supposed to be a scene after the credits, where the students of the school watch the recordings from school and notice a certain Peter, with whom they get along and do not know who this person is and why they act as if they know him, although in fact they are seeing him for the first time. Surely some people would immediately notice photos and videos with Peter, where one of them has known him for a long time and communicates with him, or even correspondence in personal messages on the Internet with him and would immediately guess that something is wrong here and would try to find out who Peter Parker is and would start their own personal investigations to try to find out who he is and remember him.
Plot Hole 14: Sokovia Treaty
In general, I could have put this plot hole in first place in this TOP. In essence, this plot hole is the same as in the Incredibles cartoon duology. The fact that several people died is not the Avengers' fault, but the villains who killed them and whom the superheroes tried to stop. It was the villains who should have been accused of killing people. Even if they themselves were then killed by the superheroes or escaped from you somehow. And what is the point of some kind of agreement that if superheroes sign, promising never to interfere with people, so that no one ALLEGEDLY gets hurt? If superheroes disappeared or they were inactive and did not interfere, then humanity would not be safe at all, considering how many supervillains appear and exist, as well as what high levels of crime they have in the USA. Superheroes exist to fight crime and supervillains, and also to help the useless and stupid police, who are inactive unlike them and are good for nothing. In fact, the police should be banned and they should all be fired, since they are useless and inactive unlike superheroes! Without superheroes and their intervention, the crime rate will increase much higher, and the useless police themselves will barely cope.
So let's reason! Well, let's say absolutely all the Avengers from Tony Stark to Steve Rogers will sign this stupid treaty of yours and agree to your stupid conditions and will no longer interfere in the affairs of supervillains and criminals! And then what will happen? The criminals will come out of the shadows and begin to quietly rob and rule, and then, probably, almost fall on the White House and seize power. And supervillains cannot be stopped by ordinary bullets or by an ordinary person without superpowers, unless of course he is billionaire Bruce Wayne, that is, Batman, or a soldier with a gun. On the contrary, only a superhero can stop him. Supervillains will also quietly rob and rule, and sow chaos. And it won't be the superheroes who are to blame, but General Ross himself and those brainless people who came up with this stupid treaty, stupidly not thinking with their stupid heads about such possible consequences.
And even if they finally come to their senses after this, realizing what they've done and decide to break their treaty, thereby canceling it in order to allow the Avengers to return and start acting the way they want, it will be too late. And what was the point of trying to force those who refused to sign it, if he will still refuse and want to decide for himself whether he can be a hero or not? Then in that case, he will have to be killed, since he is so stubborn. And it is not clear why after the events of the films "Avengers: Infinity War" and "Avengers: Endgame" Ross and everyone in the White House blew off their own treaty, which they themselves came up with, and began to close their eyes to what the Avengers and other superheroes began to do, since this time the greatest scientist Tony Stark died? After all, in fact, this could only strengthen the act of the Sokovia treaty that superheroes are ALLEGEDLY dangerous to people.
It is also not clear why this treaty did not affect Spider-Man himself? After all, as shown in the film "Spider-Man: Homecoming", he calmly helped people there, fought crime in his city and even helped his students when they almost died in the elevator, and also tried to stop Adrian Thumps and his gang on the ship, whom even the useless S.H.I.E.L.D. soldiers could not stop in any way, whom Stark called. Of course, Stark yelled at Peter later and took away the suit as punishment so that he would learn a lesson, but it seems to me that Ross should have intervened even here, and punished Peter Parker himself, and forced him to sign the contract, and forever give up all his heroic deeds. Isn't that right?
Plot Hole 15: There was no Quentin Beck in the Civil War
During a speech in Spider-Man: Far From Home, Quentin mentions that he was one of Stark's assistants and helped him develop the illusion holograms for the memories. And we were even shown a scene from Captain America: Civil War where he was in the background of Stark. Only he was added to that scene only in the Spider-Man movie. And in the Captain America movie, he was not in that scene at all. Definitely a plot hole, as if both films take place in different universes, where Quentin Beck is in one, and not in the other. So which of these universes is canon? The one where Quentin Beck exists or the one where this character does not exist at all and never existed? And don't tell me that no one paid attention to this moment in both films! After watching that scene from Spider-Man, where it was shown directly, many will then go re-watch the Captain America movie, where there was a similar scene, will watch it carefully and realize that there is no Quentin Beck there at all. This means that this is a real plot hole that is impossible to ignore.
Plot Hole 16: Did everyone naively believe in the fake Mysterio video?
Let's think about it. The events of the films "Spider-Man: Far From Home" and "Spider-Man: No Way Home!" take place in 2024. The post-credits scene of the first and the beginning of the second are happening at the same time. So why did most people, including some mean old man J. Jonah Jameson, naively believe in some stupid montage video from Mysterio. Let me remind you. The events take place in 2024. By that time, everyone has known for a long time what the Internet is and has seen most of the fake videos with editing, like the one that ALLEGEDLY ghosts or brownies exist, although in real life they do not and will not exist. And anyone who sees such a video, including the video from Mysterio, should immediately think that this video is just an edit and a fake. They know perfectly well that Spider-Man is a hero and that in reality he would never plot anything so evil against anyone. So why did they naively believe this fake? It's like if someone, for example, in 2025, made a video where he kills Donald Trump, and everyone stupidly believed that he ALLEGEDLY really killed the USA President. If people were even a little smarter and would never believe this lie and the editing from Mysterio, who died, then this plot hole would not exist. Yes, maybe I'm just nitpicking and then the plot of the movie "Spider-Man: No Way Home!" would not have happened. But still. If the events of the movie take place in our modern time, then please show this time in the movie more realistically and so that all the people with their behavior are believable, so that we really believe that any normal person in real life would act exactly like this in modern realities and circumstances.
Plot Hole 17: Iron Man Suits
Let's remember the ending of the movie "Iron Man 3". There, Tony destroyed all his suits and decided to stop being Iron Man. And also finally cured himself of the deadly fragments inside his chest, after which he no longer needed the reactor. And no, the plot hole is not at all about why Tony couldn't cure himself earlier and go to the doctor so that they could pull out the fragments from him. It's just that several years have passed between the first and third films, and medicine does not stand still and continues to develop, and Stark himself was simply between the choice: To go for treatment or not? However, as the movie "Avengers: Age of Ultron" showed, he still creates Iron Man suits for himself. But why, if Stark decided at the end of his third solo film that he would stop being Iron Man. Looks like a real plot hole, if you do not count the same Mandarin.
Plot Hole 18: Star-Lord's Mental Behavior
This plot hole appeared when James Gunn himself talked about how the Russo brothers showed Star-Lord and the rest of the Guardians in the movie "Avengers: Infinity War". And according to James Gunn, they ruined Star-Lord in character. In addition, the Russo brothers even teased in an interview that if Star-Lord had not intervened and hit Thanos with a blaster, they would have almost taken off the gauntlet and defeated Thanos much earlier. According to James Gunn, Star-Lord in his vision is not at all that hot-tempered and even if he found out that his beloved Gamora was dead, he would not have flared up like that in reality and would not have acted like a psycho, but would have been completely calm and tried to control himself. Of course, he would have been sad and cried, but still. It turns out that the Russo brothers ruined Star-Lord as a character. And all for the sake of Thanos getting the Time Stone and Tony sacrificing himself in the next part of the film. But if Star-Lord hadn't done this and calmly stood still and didn't interfere, then the spider and Stark would have been able to remove the glove from the titan. And even better, if Star-Lord hadn't hit Thanos with a blaster like a stick, but had simply aimed at his head with this very blaster and, having fired, would have simply killed him, thereby making it easier for Stark and the spider to remove the glove and at the same time quenching his thirst for revenge for Gamora.
Plot Hole 19: Stan Lee
This is probably the biggest plot hole. How did they even recruit this old man as an astronaut and let him fly into space to other planets? And most importantly, how did he manage to get to distant planets, like the one where the Nova Corps is located. What's also funny is that according to the script for the third guardians, Stan Lee was also supposed to be in a cage with the humanoid test subjects of the High Evolutionary. So how could he be there among them? I understand that you add his cameo in films where the events take place on Earth, where he is like one of the people or judges. I can understand that. But the fact that you shove him into space. This is a real plot hole. Stan Lee is not a superhero! He is a damn ordinary and mortal old man. Why didn't you add him in the end of Avengers: Endgame so that he could be in the Ravagers like Howard the Duck and fight Thanos and his minions along with the rest? You could have also given Stan Lee the ability to turn into the Hulk or shoot webs like Spider-Man and then I would have probably overlooked this plot hole, realizing that Stan Lee is like a God in the Marvel Universe, traveling back and forth to different worlds and making sure that superheroes feel good and don't die.
Plot Hole 20: How and from what did T'Challa die off-screen?
I realize that the late actor who played T'Challa died before the filming of the second movie. But still, it raised questions for me. Why and most importantly how, and even more importantly, what kind of disease was it that T'Challa began to die from? Why didn't they really tell us in the movie "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" about this incurable disease that killed our superhero from Wakandan and for which his sister has not yet been able to find a cure. But this plot hole could have been avoided if they had shown us at least a flashback where T'Challa (even with a CGI face) with his sister, for example, how they were walking and suddenly the former gets sick with something and after investigating they immediately understand what kind of disease it is. Plus, it wouldn't have ruined T'Challa's funeral scene at the beginning of the film, but would have only enhanced the effect of his sister saying goodbye to him and grieving.
Plot Hole 21: Out of 14,000,625 possible futures, there was only one winning one?
This is probably the most big plot-driven hole, which could also be put in first place in this TOP! I will never believe that among fourteen million variants of the future, there was only one single and pathetic correct one. Surely there were other variants of victory, which Strange specifically ignored, if only the plot would happen, because the script told him so. For example, the same animators from the rubric "How the film should have ended" in their video dedicated to the film "Avengers: Infinity War" offered as many as five correct and reliable victory options. The first: Outsmart Thanos, grab him by the glove with Strange's cloak, open a portal under him and simply, having closed the portal, cut off Thanos' hand with the glove. The second: Using the Time Stone, roll back Thanos' time to turn him into a baby. Third: Star-Lord could have simply not gone crazy and hit Thanos on the head so as not to interfere, but simply stood aside and waited until Spider-Man and Stark removed the glove from the titan. Fourth: Strange or the same Wong could have moved to Wakanda and simply sent absolutely the entire army of Thanos into the mirror dimension and left them for some time. And when Thanos himself appears, they could all calmly pounce on him at once and defeat him. And finally, fifth: Thor could have simply cut off Thanos' hand with the glove instead of striking him in the chest with thunder with an axe, so that he could not snap. Yes, there were probably many other correct options so that absolutely everyone remained alive and everyone could be saved. So that Tony Stark also did not sacrifice himself and could live peacefully on. And in a pinch, in the same movie "Avengers: Endgame" you could have used the time stone to roll back time to before Tony himself snapped and saved his life. Fortunately, Thanos and his army were already exhausted and tired by that time, so they could have all been finished off without any problems.
Plot Hole 22: Thanos' motivation
The first two Avengers movies were directed by Joss Whedon. He was a huge comic book fan and made the movie based solely on comics. Even Thanos, shown in the post-credits scene, was clearly furious and was going to destroy the entire universe for Lady Death. But then the Russo brothers came along and changed everything, making Thanos not a cliched villain who is trying to destroy the entire universe for Death, but turning him into an anti-villain who wants to destroy only half of the universe and leave the other half alive and prosper. Oddly enough, this is also a plot hole. But this is not the only plot hole. Thanos simply did not think about the consequences. If he exterminated half of the living beings in the universe, then along with half of the living beings, half of the food and half of the resources would also disappear. And the universe is not finite at all, but infinite. Yes, the resources are finite, of course. But there are many planets in space that are uninhabited and also have resources. It would have been possible to populate them as well, so that overpopulation would also be avoided and there would be no destruction of the universe. There is also a plot hole here.
Plot Hole 23: Captain America didn't go looking for Bucky
As we were shown at the end of the film "Captain America: The Winter Soldier", Captain America set out to find his friend and bring him to his senses. But between the films "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" and "Captain America: Civil War" there were the events of the film "Avengers: Age of Ultron" and there Steven Rogers seemed to have forgotten about Bucky himself and did not go looking for him at all, but just helped his comrades, sat in the Avengers tower, lazed around and did almost nothing. But when Ultron attacks, he is right there. And how do you explain this plot hole? You, the Russo brothers and Joss Whedon, cannot fool me!
Plot Hole 24: Ultron
Let's turn to the comics. Who is Ultron? It is an artificial intelligence from the Mind Stone. It easily took control of Iron Man's suits and the Avengers had to fight them. But further in the story, for some reason, Ultron did not try to take control of Iron Man's suit, in which he flew out to fight him, and even the Hulkbuster, in which he tried to stop and reason with Hulk. He was even able to pay the villains at the expense of Stark's money to buy himself a lot of vibranium, illegally mined from Wakanda. Why didn't he also take advantage of this and simply send all the money to zero to poor people and thereby bankrupt Stark, turning him from a millionaire into a pauper? Is Ultron an artificial intelligence or not? Why was he suddenly turned into such a weakling who not only did not think of this, but is not even capable of it? Moreover, in the comics, Ultron was canonically created by Ant-Man, that is, Hank Pym.
Plot Hole 25: Quicksilver
There are several plot holes associated with this character. Why was he played by the same actor in the films "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" and "Avengers: Age of Ultron", but in the TV series "WandaVision" he was played by another actor, who had previously played a similar character in the X-Men cinematic universe? It is not clear why there is no Quicksilver on Earth-838, since in this universe Ultron has become a kind and loyal protector of the Earth and all of humanity? It is also not clear why he put himself in front of Ultron's bullet and let himself be killed, if he could have simply grabbed Hawkeye and the child on the run at super speed and quickly taken them away from that place so that they would not die. And don't tell me that they did this on purpose so that Fox could use Quicksilver in their films again!
Plot Hole 26: Scarlet Witch Motivation
Another plot hole associated with the film "Doctor Strange: Plot Hole" due to the fault of director Sam Raimi. In the film, Scarlet Witch became a real villain who tried to catch a person who can move between universes and with his help go to another universe where she has children. To do this, she uses the dark book of evil Darkhole and kills anyone who gets in her way. In principle, I can understand the motivation for why she became a villain. But in the TV series "WandaVision" she was already under an evil spell at first and for long episodes tried to understand that something was wrong and return to the reality of her inner world, which she created for herself. And at the end of the series, she finally realized her mistakes and corrected herself. And Sam Raimi stupidly did not take this into account. It feels like he either forgot or refused to watch the series about Wanda and Vision before making the movie, which resulted in this plot hole where the director simply ruined the character. If I were Sam Raimi, I would have watched the Scarlet Witch series before making a movie about Strange, so as not to create a plot hole, and then tried to correctly fit the character into the series so as not to ruin his development from the series. And I would have even called the MCU Earth-199999, not 616!
And why did Wanda decide to go to the universe where she has children and change her double from that universe? Wouldn't it have been logical to search even better among other universes and find the universe where her children are also, but where she herself is not? Well, I don't know: She probably died and her children became orphans. It was possible to find such a universe and go there to find children and start living with them. And that's it! Consider that you yourself will be happy and can stay to live in that universe, and the children themselves will also be happy and will no longer cry for their dead mother.
Plot Hole 27: Kang the Conqueror's Motivation
And this character is hard to understand. He is sometimes a hero, as shown in the series "Loki", where he tried to protect the multiverse and its order, and sometimes, on the contrary, as shown by one of his versions in the Quantum Realm and the Council of Kangs - villains, as shown in the film "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania". And what would be bad about new universes appearing in the multiverse? On the contrary, it is good. The more universes, the larger the multiverse. Each universe expands and the multiverse itself too, and they will never burst. It is also unclear why the Council of Kangs did not also appear in the movie "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" and did not help the spider-people and Megel himself stop the threat to the multiverse - Spot!? Here he is the real threat to the entire multiverse, and not some Avengers, inhabitants of the Quantum Realm or ant-people.
Plot Hole 28: Ghost
This character is not a villain, but an anti-hero who tried to save his life from excruciating pain and death until he disappeared forever and only Janet Vanday helped her by transferring several powers from the Quantum Dimension that helped her heal. In principle, the motivation for such a villain is clear and you can worry about her! Only questions arise about her abilities, which she somehow miraculously learned to control herself in a matter of minutes, which is impossible. Namely: Since the Ghost can not only become invisible and pass through walls, then why in some moments she still allows the heroes to hit her and take damage, when she could simply make the blows pass through her and not harm her. And also why does she in some moments remove the invisible mode from herself and allow people to see her, if she had to constantly walk invisible and fight while invisible. And it is also not clear why, even in childhood, when she first mastered these abilities, but did not yet know how to control them, for example, did not fall through the floor to the center of the Earth?
Plot Hole 29: How much time has passed since the Civil War?
This plot hole is connected with the movie "Spider-Man: Homecoming". In the movie itself it is said that after Adrian Thumps and his people were banned from collecting debris from Chitauri ships in 2012 and were replaced by people summoned by Stark, 8 years passed. That is, the events of the movie take place in 2020, which does not fit with the movie "Avengers: Infinity War", whose events took place in 2018, when Thanos snapped and erased half of the universe, including the spider himself. After which five years passed and only in 2023 Professor Hulk snapped back all the people erased by Thanos and back.
And don't tell me that he ALLEGEDLY could have returned them in the same places, like in airplanes and that they ALLEGEDLY could have died there somewhere inside cement houses or in the sky, falling into the water! The Russo brothers explained in an interview a long time ago that Professor Hulk knew about such consequences and tried to return the erased half of the universe so that they would not suffer and remain alive. This means that nothing bad happened to them.
Here we are talking about a plot hole related to the events of the film. If the events of the film "Spider-Man: Homecoming" take place in 2020, then how could he return in advance if Thanos erased him back in 2018? And the thing is that the director of the film, Jon Watts, admitted in an interview that the text with the inscription "8 years later" is a mistake. In fact, only four years have passed since those events in "The Avengers", not eight. That is, the events of the film "Spider-Man: Homecoming", as well as the film "The Captain America: Civil War" actually take place in 2016. Two years before Thanos snapped. But what's infuriating is that after the director admitted this mistake, Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige have still not corrected this mistake. They have never re-released the film or changed the text to "4 years later", leaving the same mistake with eight years. And how has this mistake not become a new internet meme yet?
Plot Hole 30: Everything Russia-related in the Marvel Cinematic Universe
Or rather, it's not really a plot hole, but rather just a nitpick about how Hollywood portrays the Soviet Union, Russia, and Russian people in its films and TV series. I myself may have never been born in Russia and am not Russian, but personally, thanks to the Internet, I have carefully studied what Russia is really like in real life and what really happened in the Soviet Union. And I am well aware that Hollywood has been lying to us all about the USSR and Russia all this time. For example, I met a couple of times in real life a couple of real Russian people and they spoke their native Russian language quite normally and did not burr. While in most Hollywood films, the ALLEGEDLY Russian people shown there and played by English-speaking actors do not know how to speak Russian normally and stupidly slur. Even a real Russian person will not understand what kind of nonsense they are talking here? And unfortunately, even the MCU movies and TV shows have not escaped this. Even in these movies, if some character is SUPPOSEDLY Russian and speaks his native language, he does not speak Russian normally, but instead he spouts some gibberish. Well, it's like, for example, if some American was played by a Russian actor and instead of saying "Hello, how are you?", he said this phrase like this: "Hellou, hoo ara yoo?" In my opinion, Kevin Feige should have found a normal Russian-speaking actor and offered him to play a Russian character, so that he would speak normally with a Russian accent and correctly, so that even real Russians could understand what he was saying in the original, that is, in the English dubbing.
But that’s not all that was wrongly shown in the MCU about Russian people and their native country! Moreover, in real life in the USSR there were never any Red Rooms and no one trained children so cruelly there and took them away from their families at all! And moreover, all real Russian people have normal surnames. No, seriously! What the hell Vanko or Romanoff? Not a single normal Russian or Soviet person in real life ever had such a stupid surname. Every Russian and Soviet had normal surnames, such as: Sidorov, Vasnetsov, Bochkin, Myshkin, Potapov, Lopatkin, Novikov, Putin and many other normal Russian surnames. But how do I know about all this? Thanks to the Internet, of course. Especially thanks to the translator and Russian-language sites. And also thanks to the fact that I talked to real Russian people and interrogated them about all these topics. Plus, I also found out that some of them are even annoyed by all these Russophobic cliches and stereotypes that Hollywood shows in its films and TV series and stupidly lies about Russians. What especially infuriates them is that, in their opinion, stupid Americans cannot write words in Russian normally and correctly, and normal words in Russian in the form of text and Russian letters, but instead they write some kind of gibberish, as well as nonsense in the form of a mixture of Russian and English letters.
And probably the most important plot hole, which is connected with Russia. Or rather, it is not really a plot hole, but simply an inconsistency with the real world. In the USSR/Russia, it never snowed in the summer. Only in the winter. And in the summer they sometimes have scorching heat and warmth. And what's more, they never drink vodka, or rather they do, but not all of them. Most Russian people are still normal and can even drink lemonade, tea, coffee and other tasty drinks. Also, Russians do not trade only in nesting dolls or balalaikas. Sometimes they can trade in other goods. Especially the same as in the USA. And in general, Russians have never traded matryoshkas and ballalaikas since the beginning of the twentieth century. Even they themselves have almost forgotten about it and do not know what it is!? But the most important thing is that real Russian people, especially in the USSR, are all kind, honest and decent people who don’t even touch each other or anyone else with a finger. In short: What these idiots from Marvel Studios, as well as other Hollywood studios, showed is not the real USSR/Russia at all, but nonsense from some fictional and non-existent country, which in real life does not exist at all! I hope that any English-speaking person who reads this article of mine will spread this information so that even Hollywood will see it, realize their mistakes and promise not to lie about Russians anymore! Although in my opinion, I would also advise Hollywood to remake all the existing current films that tried to show Russians and their country, so that this time everything would be correct and real, without Russophobia, without cranberries and without stereotypes! Do you agree with me on this topic?
Yes. Unfortunately, these are the kind of plot holes that you see in these kinds of movies and TV shows from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But overall, if you ignore them, which is a bit difficult, many people still love these movies. However, I don't understand why Kevin Feige and Hollywood allowed such plot holes and inconsistencies in their movies and TV shows? Couldn't they have come to a normal agreement with each other and come to a compromise so that everything would actually be connected and so that there would be no plot holes or inconsistencies at all? After all, if you are creating a cinematic universe from several movies and TV shows, then you should have taken this seriously and clearly agreed with each other about it! Do you agree with this? Let us know in the comments!
Here I decided to tell about all the plot holes that I found in all the movies and TV shows that take place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I decided to collect all these movies and TV shows together to tell what plot holes were between them.
Yeah.
