Description

This is a very complicated picture, as you can see, and it was as complicated to draw it. This project spawned from some character sketches I had laying around (relics from another project that got corrupted and never finished). I started working on it in last year after the Red Library was done, and it went through many iterations while getting bigger and bigger. Once I planned to restrict the picture to the character in the middle being in a tent during a festival (If you have seen some Witcher 3 Blood and Wine promo art, you can probably guess which one I mean), but I decided to scrap it and draw something else. The result is this here, a nightmare of detail work and torture for my hand and patience. But I try to finish what I start, so here it is. It is inspired by the main Town from the Super Mystery Dungeon game, which I have not played for a long time. Most references I found online were DS screenshots, which naturally had a terrible resolution. But I hope it is recognizable. The Exploration Society with its prominent telescope is located in the Background, and I also tried to incorporate the Lightower into the scene. The architecture was a bit changed since the setting is not the same as in the game (duh, two of these characters have blades). Some of the iconography and items I tried to keep the same. There are not as many references to the games as in the Red Library image.
Regarding the drawing techniques I used, here I tried to apply some things I observed while staring at Genshin Impact artwork. Characters have a mist around them to make them distinct from the environment. The contrast in the distance is lower than in the foreground. Generally, I tried to make things closer to the observer darker. One thing I struggled with was the lighting (again) and the number of figures I put in the image. All these poses and shading did indeed show me that I am nowhere near as amazing as an artist as I sometimes delude myself into being, and some stuff might not be as good as I wished it to be. This includes the contrast, saturation, and hues, but before I am tweaking the image until I die, I'd rather upload something imperfect now than never.

But whatever. It is what it is, and I am happy to have something less to worry about finally.
If you look at this picture and have something to complain about or give advice I can use to learn, don't feel shy to let me know in the comments.
