ILLUMINATE (HD) by realisticartsachin ILLUMINATE (HD) by realisticartsachin
#Pencil sketch #Portrait
This portrait has been made using features from several photos. The smooth transition from the darker shades on the left, to the glow on the right, is clearly evident in the sketch. This portrait demanded extra efforts to reproduce the subtle skin complexion and wrinkles which was achieved with the help of Mono Elastomer Eraser and blending stumps. Personally, I loved shading the beaded necklace, the presence of which makes the sketch extra attractive.
Medium used: Charcoal (General's 2B, 4B, 6B) + Graphite (Steadtler 3H, HB, 4B, 6B, 8B)
Drawing Paper: Schizzi's A3 Sketching Pad
30 X 27 cm

Very realistic the shading is smooth and gives a photographic quality to it. And the freckles are amazing!

So me and my teacher have had a debate whether or not you can mix charcoal and graphite. I say you can and she doesn't see how because charcoal doesn't go well over graphite. How do you do it?
Also this is really beautiful. I really really loved the pearls around her neck. They're gorgeous.

Thank you very much :) Yes, charcoal doesn't stick on graphite. Therefore, you use charcoal first and then use graphite over it if necessary. For the darkest areas, like the eyes, use just charcoal.

I never thought of using charcoal first. I don't know why. Thank you! I'm definitely going to try that :)
