finland!!! i really want to go there sometime soon!!! (and you learn something new everyday!!!)...> a kantele...i have never heard of one of those...it looks quite intricate to play...like a harp perhaps?...now i want one!!!

the sepia type colouring of this photograph is beautiful...and the contrast between the shadows, and the light coming in the door, and shining on the figure, and instrument is excellent

Thank you for your kind comment. The kantele is similar to a dulcimer or a harp. It can be played in a simple fashion (like the dulcimer is often played) or more intricately depending on your level of skill. This is what makes it a great folk instrument!
