Dear Lord, am I ever late this month. Please accept my most profuse apologies, all. I know you're all probably tired of hearing my "But I'm sooooo busy!" excuses, but I really, really am. Probably needless to say, there will not be a prompt for the month of March, but I have come to announce the PF for January, so everyone can get soup'd for that!

My Personal Favorite for the month of February (Write a Love Letter to Yourself) comes from :icontheglassiris:.
Name PoemOne of the most common names I’ve ever heard
is my own, a kind
that neither trips up the instructor during roll call
nor sparks much interest at a dining hall.
A name like “Andrew” is clear,
transparent, and plastic.
The kind of name that lets me sift
like a memory into the background.
I have used it all my life,
like a kind of cardboard box
lifting myself out of it
and watching the packing peanuts drift
and settle around my limbs
like newborn snow,
candy floss,
and the long plastic straw
that curled around itself
like time
or Eliot’s yellow fog.
And there was a kind of distance between
“Andrew” and “Liu”.
“Andrew” which is supposed to be
a matching set to my sister’s “Annie”.
We were given names that matched, alliteratively
as if my parents were two workers at a factory
and they had just attached our doll-like limbs
to our rubber torsos, now pending
for a pair of the perfect
sounds by which they will call us

I enjoy this particular poem because it is unique and thought-provoking; it takes the prompt in a direction that I had not initially considered. I am always impressed by this deviant's work, and this submission is no exception. This piece will be moved to the Featured folder shortly.

Thank you to all who participated in the February prompt! Look forward to more prompts beginning next month!

Have a wonderful evening, all!

Is this group still alive? I don't see any submissions being accepted.

Hi! I run a digital magazine called the Surreal Grotesque. We publish dark surreal bizarre art and writing. Anywhere from 500 to 1500 words and artworks of all types from illustrations to digital. Future themes include: serial killers, sex & death and mutations & mutilations. We are interested in all genres from horror to scifi or dark fantasy as long as they have a bizarre or surreal aspect to them. All rights and properties remain those of the artist, we offer exposure only so we will list a link to your site for readers to visit or a store, blog, website. The first issue just came out and we have 850 reads so far and we are growing daily. If this sounds like something you might be interested in contributing to, email me at: and check out the FREE mag at: Some amazing works here!! Please consider submitting, thank you ;)

Hello, I can't seem to find any rules here. Are the number of submissions limited?
Vagabond-Arcadia Featured By Owner Mar 23, 2012  Student Writer
I believe the submission limit is five per week, but I could be wrong. I just recently took over all group responsibilities and am still figuring out where everything is and whatnot. I'm sorry I can't be of more help.

It's ok :) I probably won't submit that much in one week, anyway

I just checked and it's definitely 5 per week. Thanks for your question, and welcome to the group!
