Wishing safety and healing to those currently in tornado warnings and watches tonight in the Midwest and other places affected by this storm system. It's affected me badly. My grandma got hit when it was dark, and I cannot get ahold of her. Please stay safe, folks. It's gotten pretty bad.

RANT: People seriously complaining about the sirens going off too much... that's one reason that started a policy where I live. Where tornado sirens will only go off once per warning. These sirens are what saves lives for those who don't have TVs, Radios, or Phones. Without proper warnings, people will die. The news even discussed the language barrier issue with tornado warnings today, because that's how bad the storms are going to get. But people complaining that the sirens go off too much? When we live in TORNADO ALLEY?!? The thing they complained about most was the 100mph wind gust that tore off the roof of our state jail, displacing hundreds of people overcrowded in that place? They complained because the sirens went off at 2am. The sirens used to be automatically triggered by wind speeds over 75mph. If debris hit you that hard, you'd most likely be dead. Sorry if I haven't been too active these couple days. We're expected to have some severe storms, with the possibility of tornadoes. I am currently trying to phone people I have in my contacts to make sure that they have updated their tornado safety plans for this year. I am also going to my neighbors to notify them about the storms about to hit, and making sure they know what to do. Many of my neighbors have kids as well, so I'm helping them learn about what to do during an event like this. I recently found out that some of the deaths caused by these storms are due to a language barrier. So I'm trying to find a way to inform our Cuban friend (who speaks little English) about safety during a tornado. He has never experienced one here. So yeah. Trying to help the community prepare for this tornado season, which started March 1st and lasts through October.
