So I'm at a bit of a dilemma around now. While having a Dual Screen is great and has a unique feel that other fangames out there don't have, it is very high maintenance and, as we've seen from the last demo, creates some real issues that stock essentials doesn't have.

So my question is simple, to everyone following the game and to everyone who has played through the demo: Do you honestly think the Dual Screen is worth keeping or should I, for the time being, revert to the stock version of essentials?

If I do go back to regualr essentials, it will create a ton of work to deal with any script errors that may arise, but it will also make it easier to create a fixed game demo for you all to enjoy while I work on the next, without worrying about having to fiddle with the scripts.

I think the game would still be amazing even if it's one screen. If it's gonna be a lot easier to make a single screen game, and that's what you feel would work best, then go for it! No complaints here. :D

As a fangame creator, I can totally feel you. I'd say take it out, as it can create some problems later on, and you don't need to have two screens to make your game look clean and modern.

From my experience playing the demo I feel like the dual screen should just go.
It doesn't like to cooperate half the time and it can quite annoying.

That's part of the reason I kinda want to go back to a single screen game. I've found it not to be the most responsive system in the world, and very inconvenient.

I like the idea but also think duel would be better for the finished product.

I may go back to it at a later date but I'm honestly preferring single screen for now. Having to use a mouse for the bottom screen gets a tad inconvenient at times.

I think it might depend on what kind of work load it's giving you. Obviously there's going to be a huge amount of time that has to be sunk into getting a new system to working condition from scratch. But I would have thought as well that it would be the kind of thing where once that initial development stage is overcome and you arrive at a workable system, there work requirements for maintenance and updating would become less and less significant as game development progresses. I wouldn't want you to lose all the custom work you've done because it's still pretty good. But speaking from experience here as well sometimes it is just best to burn the whole thing to the ground and plant seeds in the fertile ash...

Well I've been converting it all back to normal essentials, sure it's a bit of work to make it work properly and the graphics will need re-doing but I don't mind. It'll probably allow me to make a workable demo for people to play while I focus on furthering the game and implementing all the fakemon.

Even though the dual screen is really cool, it is kinda clunky.
So I think having a single screen is better.

Yeah, and it's kinda impractical also.

I don't know which dual screen kit you're using but I've tried both and yeah, single screen is a lot easier to work with. It's up to you but I think you should just stick with the single screen. :)

Tried it, was pretty good, but yeah, single screen is better overall.

Yeah. I'm in the process of moving it now. Hopefully I be able to get it so that I can create a bug-free demo before the end of the month. It would tie in nicely with GameDev Monthly.
