EDIT 1/25/08: `LuneBleu wrote are good article about Photoshop Actions and how to install them. Check it out!

EDIT 9/18/07:
:bulletred: Fixed some issues with language versions others than EN.
:bulletred: Maybe I should mention that on square format photos it doesn't matter which action you use. Just resize the texture layer which is added at the end.
:bulletred: Added an extra .ATN for Photoshop 7 Users

A Photoshop action set including two actions (for up- and lengthwise photos) and a texture to emulate the look of Gum Bichromate Prints from the 19th century.

This action is specially dedicated to `equivoque

How to install the action:

1. Put the .ATN file from the zip in a directory of your choice. It doesn't need to be in the Photoshop directory.
2. Choose Load Actions from the Actions palette menu.
3. Select the action set file from the directory you saved it.
4. Click Load.
5. Play it.

Check out other fine pieces of german engineering straight out the Rawimage Laboratories!

DISCLAIMER: I spent a lot of time creating this action. It helps you to save time, and maybe you can even learn something new. Nevertheless, to install and use Photoshop actions you have to have at least basic Photoshop skills. I won't help you with that. There are plenty of Tutorials on dA and the www.
My actions often have the approach to mimic a certain kind of photographic process. I enjoy to study prints and to reveal its essence, while thinking of a way to empathize this essence with Photoshop. I'm aware that my actions don't create adequate substitutes for an original piece. I just mention this, because there were some purists and hardliners in the past, that shook their heads or even felt offended. Consider this simply a nerdy hobby of mine.
A weak point of Photoshop actions is, that it's not convenient to load files (like textures) during playback, if you want to use the actions on different machines. That's because the paths saved in the action are absolute. To make the outcome perfect, you should adjust the layers and values to your needs and place additional textures manually.
DeviantART has changed the submission rules (again). From now on .ATN files have to be zipped to be approved. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Hi, I'm having a problem with the action (around step 38 - Clouds | Motion Blur | Motion Blur | Set Current Layer | Select Layer "Grain 2" | Link Layers)  The Link Layers command fails with the message "The command "Link" is not currently available.  Looking at the action, the link command references a layer named "Layer" and there appears to be no layer named "Layer" available.  If I select Continue, the action seems to work but I'm not sure if it's working as you intended. Thanks

Hi, thanks for the feedback. The action only works with flat images (no layers) and the color swatches should be set to default (press D to set the foreground color to black, background color to white).

Thanks, I'll make sure that is what I have set.

Hi there, I'd love to use this action but the download link is not working for me. Could you either email me the download at charlottemorrow04@gmail.com or perhaps fix the link? Thank you for your time.

This is the best action I've found for making a realistic "old photo" effect. Thank you.
