From Okeanos

According to Greek Mythology the Nephelai are nymphs of the clouds and particularly rain clouds. They are said to either be created by clouds or the clouds themselves. This creation places them as daughters of the god Oceanus. Also referred to as the Okaenid Nymphs because their purpose was to fill pitchers with water from the world encircling river and pour it across the clouds to make rain for the earth and crops.

I mostly referenced the art from Mark Henn for this painting, specifically designs for Jasmine from Alladin, as always, I don’t copy the characters, I use them for inspiration, influence, and reference to present my own characters. I favor Mark Henn as having the same style as Glen Keane that I have adored from Little Mermaid through Frozen and beyond that in there workshops. My chibi characters even come from characters in this genre, which you can recognize in modern children’s cartoons such as Spidey and friends.

I used a cloud brush for the background. I also used water tools for the splash and a bit of ripple. The rest is hand drawn and hand painted. WIP to follow.
