It's Always Been School
It's Always Been School Did you ever do something naughty as a kid or teenager—maybe steal something, cause a disaster on purpose, or behave in a way that seemed completely unlike you? Something that's haunted you for years because you can't figure out why you did it? Something that didn't leave you feeling guilty so much as confused—maybe guilty about not feeling guilty? Something you hate yourself for doing, and hate yourself even more for the fact you don't trust yourself not to do it again? And that kept nagging at you even after you took responsibility for it? Have you been wondering why that is? Or do you just accept the stock explanation: "It's the hormones" that people always throw around? Well, let me be the first person to tell you: It's not the hormones. And I'm going to explain what it really is. Calvin & Hobbes: A Case Study Rereading Calvin & Hobbes as a 22-year-old—after my experiences with school and depression—is what first sparked this epiphany. I've realized

Black Claw's Wiki
"Surrender your life to the British Government now, and I will promise you will die quickly." Doctor Nigel Shipman, also know as the Black Claw, is a super villain who is the arch enemy of the Speed Kids. Backstory 1970s Before he lost his arm and was in his 30s Doctor Shipman was elected as the Prim minster of Britain, to all the people he promised to write checks to charity and Britain a better place, with his wife Elsa Shipman and their son Gene Shipman. In 1978 when Gene turned 10 he discovered he was a mutant with telepathic abilities including mind-reading, mind controlling and memory altering, when his powers are activated his eyes glow pink. When Black Claw found his son was a mutant and thought he could use his ability to whip the minds of the world leaders to make them serenader to him and to make all their countries part of the British empire. But Gene was abused too much by his father to make him use his mutant abilities. Nigel grabbed Gene by the throat and told

Adulthood Isn't the Problem
Adulthood Isn't the Problem We're told that adulthood is where the magic dies. That childhood is full of wonder and colours, and adulthood is when you lose all that. Somewhere along the way, we built a cultural myth that childhood is amazing and adulthood is the inferior state of being. But it's not. There's no difference between childhood and adulthood at all. Details, sure—but nothing foundational. What people call the "burden of adulthood" is entirely manufactured—the collective effect of broken institutional designs and meaningless societal expectations that have quietly normalized preventable suffering—and then blamed age for the damage. The Illusion I vividly remember a time as a child when I was thinking about what life would be like as an adult—how different it would be, how much would change. But here's the thing: I couldn't find anything. In adulthood, you work during work hours and have free time outside them. But that's exactly how childhood works too. The only

"Eee-ooo-eee!" "Eee-oaaahh-eee?" "Not eee-whooaah-eee, eee-ooo-eee." Astrid Rattigan was sitting on the windowsill, making another mark in her mind - her classmates remained as limited and bone-headed as they used to be. She was the only one who knew that it was not eee-ooo-eee and not eee-whooaah-eee. It was ooo-eee-ooo. But who would listen to a loner? A loner who knew the truth could do nothing against the mob who knew the lie. "And I got myself an ACCORD model!" Penny Kite boasted, and the group recited: "Accurate Clear Consciousness Of Relative Dimensions!" and burst out laughing. Then Penny went on: "Just like K-6 model, ...

"Coming!.. Coming!.. Now!.. Now!.." Usually society is afraid of things which bring changes, no matter for better or for worse. In this case it was something else. This town had better life conditions, better harvest, better trades - better everything apart from sicknesses and deaths and their relatives. But there's always a price to pay, and this was the day when everybody gathered at the town's square, waiting for a miracle. Or at least for a sight. A collective "aaaaaahhhhh!" sounded over the square, and the crowd divided in two, making a path for the reason of everything better. Nothing changed this time. The core of the change...

OHFE: Doctor Who and the Oncoming Storm
My name is Jeremiah Storm. Definitely Jeremiah, not Jeremy or Jerry, as somebody likes it. Why? Have no idea. Maybe because I'm not too special, and my name is the only way to show my difference from other teenage kids. Like most of them, I don't like studying too much and never had any particular exciting experience... and, like all of them, I'm a liar. Not too long ago I had an adventure which hardly ever happened to any of them. You think I'm a boaster? I may be, but not now. Just promise you won't interrupt me while I'm telling it. It all began with a museum trip. Most kids hate events like this, but I can't say I'm an exhibition...
