Brewing chili, 50 BC

This one I did as a somewhat follow up to cooking the chili, this past week.

At the cook-out, there a lot of entries , and a lot of hot dogs waiting to be eaten.   After the meal, the results were announced.  The  entries were judged earlier, and  while I was content with the meal and hopes for a good  reception, the results were unexpected:   I won first place. 

While I didn't try all the entries, there were a lot a liked, and one I felt like "What happened?" in a bad way: I found out later that particular entry was a vegetarian chili that may have been cooked with tofu... 

 Moving on,  one thought I had after all was said an done was  that it felt like I made a bit of magic, and it brought to mind a comic I was introduced to at a young age:  Asterix.   The countless tales of one small gaulish village continuing to defy and troll  Julius Caesar and his legions- good bits of character, comedy, and of course, a lot of  good beatings induced on part of the druid Getafix and the Magic Potion he brews, which bestows superhuman strength to those who drink it. Needless to say, it's both a big hit, and a continual cause of pain and humiliation for the  supposedly unstoppable Roman Empire.   

With these thoughts in mind, I did a small bit to the effect- drawing Raven up as a gaulish druid, standing over  a lit cauldron, making his brew.    This work was simple, but a lot of fun to do  in terms of simple design, and injecting a bit of story behind it.
