Heaf bare of feathers as they would only get be-moiled by rot in their digging im carcasses.
Stomachs acid resistant as carcasses are full of rot germs.

I have a couple that nests in our barn every year. (Becky and Jarvis). They let me know spring has come. Once a month, I'll toss something out to them to eat. They're letting me get closer after two years. In fact, this year they brought 4 friends with them. I'm gonna have to come up with names for them too. Lol. I love them and I love the way you've respectfully represented them in this picture. They do so much good for us, keeping nasty diseases away. Plus, in Cherokee lore the vulture was instrumental in the creation of land.

That's amazing. We don't have vultures here in Australia, so they're such a novel animal for me! It's awesome that they nest near you every year!

We sure have a lot of those around here where I live.

I've never seen them before, but still so much fun to illustrate.

beautiful. I had one 'lead' me a bit the other day; it flew ahead of me as I went down my road, and circled my house a few times. Very cool experience, still looking into it, though. :)

I'm in Australia, and we don't have vultures here; but I'd like very much to meet turkey vulture in person one day!

Aw. :( They're pretty cool, though I've not had too much experience with them at all, except for seeing them over the highways and such.

Oh, turkey vulture... ^.^ I am a huge fan of vultures. I think they're just brilliant - and I really like the expression you put into this piece! There's kind of a gentle intelligence or wisdom in the eye there...

This piece puts me in mind of a dream I had a while back...there's a place not far from where I live with trees growing along a small creek. In the dream I was there in the summer, when everything is golden, and there were three birds in three trees, and I was collecting their feathers. One of them was a vulture. I've always thought vultures were amazing, but ever since I had that dream I've had kind of a soft spot in my heart for them.

I wish we had vultures here, I know I've said that already, but they seem like such majestic creatures, in spite of (or maybe because of) their 'job' in nature. :D

Wow - one of nature's least beautiful, and your treatment makes him shine. Wonderful work

Aw thank you so much. I wish we had them here!

I always had a soft spot for vultures. Anything that can eat botulism deserves respect.

That's certainly true! :D

I love Turkey Vultures... i've only seen them a few times in the wild. Found a couple nice feathers, though. Quite under appreciated birds..

Beautiful job.. <3

I LOVE vultures! Great piece.

I so very much wish we had vultures here. :)

We get both the Black Vulture and the Turkey Vulture. :) Such great personalities these birds have, though most people don't care for them because of what they eat.
Great job, again, on this Totem work. :)

That's awesome that you get both vultures; it's a shame that people don't care for them. Carrion eaters are so amazing.
