Portable Photovoltaic Systems

Anyway, an illustration for an upcoming exhibition (Natcon 50's Future Imperfect here - [link]), in which I will be exploring an imperfect future where augmented animals are used for human profit.

In this, ravens - originally bringers and stealers of the sun in great mythology - become modified to absorb sun for the people, and then discharge it regularly into power stations.

The other in the series is The Sea Shepherd: [link]

I love the colors and the composition of this piece, and the ideas behind it are very interesting as well! Great job!

I'm doing a Power Point on photovoltaic energy for my class at college and I stumbled upon this awesome-looking picture. Good work

I love how artsy this is!!!

Hey cheers! Really appreciate it. :D It was a challenging project - in person, the photovoltaic panels shine when the light hits in certain directions, making them more 'obvious', but the scan is a bit flatter. Still; so much fun!

It's cool! But I still don't really understand the picture /: I just know it has to do with what I'm studying ^___^''

oh; it was for a science fiction exhibition - the ravens are genetically engineered to accept grafted solar panels, and they can then 'dump' the energy on the rooves of nearby buildings, which is both a pun on the connection ravens have to the sun (they traditionally stole the sun, or gave the sun, in many Indigenous cultures throughout the world), and also a comment on the raven's relationship to the urban environment (they're prevalent, and also considered pests, as they have very much naturalised in cityscapes and suburbia). Mostly it was just a lot of fun.

I was so very impressed by your three pieces at the Swancon in Perth. So much so that this is the one I bought after losing myself in the swirls. I'm a great fan of ravens and magpies. Of the three, this one seemed to have many possible stories and kept my imagination going. It looks great on the wall at home. Your framing was great. Love your work.

Thank you so much for introducing yourself, and for giving Portable Photovoltaic Systems a home! I'm so glad 'steampunk ravens' (as it was colloquially known at home) has found a wonderful place where it will create stories for you and loved ones. :)

Unnerving, but certainly beautiful. I love the designs on the ravens, and the intricate details throughout the piece. It has a fascinating feel to it.
