Echoes in Time with clock by Rathsi Echoes in Time with clock by Rathsi
This project is now functional with a backwards moving time piece (counterclockwise motion). It is set inside a shadow box and mounted on the wall.

Narrative: The Raven listens carefully to the Earth's distortions as time begins its downward treck, back to it's beginnings where all things will become one ... only to begin anew. All of the elements are being drawn in to the vortex, including time itself.

The backward clock is changing shape as the immense gravitational pull of the vortex is causing it to become misshapen. Even though the picture of the hourglass is static, the sand with in it is not. The Rosetta Stone is a bridge of voices from distant past, the cuneiform has yet to exhale a murmur and will remain forever silent.

This project started off as an idea for a wall mounted clock. Just for grins, the upper part of the Rosetta stone contains some of the lyrics from the Al Jolson song “Swanee,” while the lower Greek component of the Rosetta stone, contains part of the Beatles lyrics from “Blackbird”. There is also a satellite dish on the side of a building backward.

A backwards movements clock has been installed into the project. The end result is a functional clock mounted in a shadow box picture frame.

It reminds me of the famous "melancolia" by Albrecht Dürer. www.albrecht-duerer-apokalypse…

I think it is amazing. Apart from the physical and aesthetic work of creating it, I can see there was much thinking and research involved.

I was hoping you would like this. The clock mechanism does give it a new / different life.

That is absolutely stunning... although the counter clockwise motion would take some getting used to :p

Thanks for your comment and fave.
The backward motion of the clock is, as I'm finding out, difficult to get use to.
Did you find the Beatles lyrics?

Are you referring to what appears to be handwriting in the image, top right of the hour glass?

To the center left of the hour glass in the lower component of the Rosetta stone, the scribbling (handwriting) contains part of the Beatles lyrics from “Blackbird”.

The upper part of the Rosetta stone contains some of the lyrics from the Al Jolson song “Swanee”.

By the way, I like your ceramics projects ... you show much potential. Some of my posted work is ceramics.
