Gabbie was astonished that the weather had been so good today. It was supposed to rain, but it didn't. Instead it had been extremely hot out and dry, so very dry. She wished that her body would stop sweating because she could feel herself shriveling up with dehydration. Why did the weather have to change so frequently, and so drastically? She looked at her watch and sighed. She was late
again. Her boss was going to kill her, and this time she was scared that it would be literally.
The buildings seemed to tower over her as she looked up into the unnaturally dark blue sky. They were only maybe ten stories tall, but here that was considered huge. Normally she didn't mind walking through the downtown area. The fancy shops fascinated her; the people looked different somehow there. Better and more happy? Today however everything seemed to rub her the wrong way. The people today seemed rushed and arrogant, pushing to get where they had to go. Rudely gesturing to each other over petty lit
