I'm a grandma. Yep. My one and only grandchild is an adorable, precocious boy who just turned two recently. He and I watch a lot of animated films and tv shows together. I've noticed a trend in several recent films, in their soundtracks. Many use Beatles' songs.
Minions (2015) - Obviously uses a lot of British artists' songs because the setting ends up in the UK. One that stands out is the end credits theme "Got To Get You Into My Life"
Kubo and the Two Strings (2015) - Regina Spektor's hauting cover of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" is a wonderful theme in this film.
Sing (2016) - Jennifer Hudson sings a lovely cover of "Golden Slumbers"
Boss Baby (2017) - There's even a funny reference to the song authors of "Blackbird" that the little boy's parents sing to their son every night, he calls his 'special song'.
Naturally it's not really a surprise that many films use Beatles' songs in their soundtracks, it's just something I've noticed from the MANY hours of viewing I've accumulated.
