Kindred Spirits by RaNuit Kindred Spirits by RaNuit
The Phoenix has been a personal totem of mine for as long as I can remember, and I have always wanted to create a Phoenix Bird all my own.

This painting is sort of a chance meeting in the darkness of my mind with my animal spirit. The reason for keeping the background to a minimum is that I really wanted the colors of the dress and Phoenix to take command, thats why everything else is down played.

The border design was redrawn from a lovely Illuminated Frame image I found in the gallery of :iconravenarcana:

The Bird is my own and I think the only thing I looked at while painting it was a swan wing just to get a feather layout.

The Lady in Red and Gold... I had the immense pleasure of finally being able to use one of :iconmagikstock: s images that I have been holding onto... So Thank you Pippa for being a beautiful model to the lady in my head to go with this Painting.

At first glance I wasn't sure if this was a photomanipulation or 3D imagery. The details you've added to the woman and the phoenix facial features is incredible. I can certainly see that attention to detail was important to you.

My only turn-off on this piece is all of the black bordering. I know it can sometimes add drama to the piece, but I feel it's distracting from all of the details you put into your characters. It gives a slightly awkward feel, especially with the complete vine border around the two subjects too.

I feel one or the other would help compliment the piece. Even more color in the background would be nice. Maybe a gold or yellow behind the main figures and drop the solid black border. :nod:

All in all I think your artwork is fabulous, its only the display that could use a little touching up. :D

The Style of this kind of reminds me of something out of The PHANTOM of the OPERA.

It's very beautiful. :)

Interesting, I must say. :nod:

I really like the detail, overall... especially the phoenix. The elegance is portrayed greatly through the detail and such, too, actually. I also like how the colours complement each other so that they all work together in creating a great impact.

Certainly, the other colours complement each other well too, in this piece. The way the person and bird are nearly the same create the sense that they joined and both merit recognition...

I can understand why you would want to downplay the background. I'm not sure that the brown surface thingymajig works that well overall... it does ground the person a bit, but.. eh. I also feel that the border design is a bit too tight as well, but other than that, it's not a bad piece.

I apologise that I can't go much in-depth here. I can't really remark about the techniques of it as I'm not familiar with the genre of art. ^^;

the brown was simply so she wasn't floating on the black, it acts as a ground, sorta...
genre of art is merely mythological interpretations done on the wacom as a basic painting/airbrushing thingy ( i'm so technical in my terms lol )
