I am looking for a colourist for a short superhero story. My goal is for it to look like it came straight out of the late 70s/early 80s. Obviously a simplified palette, no rendering, an off-white newsprint quality to the white of the page, and some subtle effects to mimic the production quality of the time. There are 6 story pages with an additional “advertisement” page, which would mostly just be the effects, not much colouring.
There's going to be a tight turnaround on this, it needs to be completed in the first week of September. I'm hoping to get this done within $250 USD. If this sounds like something you can do, please send your rates, availability, and a link to your portfolio (PLEASE ONLY SEND SEQUENTIAL COMIC ART SAMPLES - PHOTOREALISTIC DIGITAL PORTRAITS TELL ME NOTHING - SHOW ME ATMOSPHERE AND STORYTELLING) to randystoneba (at) gmail
Due to the volume of responses I may receive, please understand that I will only respond if interested in your work.
Please only reply if you consider yourself to be at a professional level and can provide plenty of sequential samples.
It's probably obvious, but these are Batman and Robin analogues. I think the Swan mask design is the best thing I've ever done.
The idea behind this is that Swan is basically defined by Duckling (his fingers) and his shadow (which kind of alludes to a short story I wrote about them long ago).
What do you guys think?
PS, if anyone is interested in colouring this, that would be amazing!
