Here's the piece I did for the Michael Turner Tribute book. The colors (Michael Birkhofer on DA) came out really nice. I'll post them as well.

I can't wait to see what others did. We'll all miss Mike very much, especially those friends he worked so closely with. My prayers go out to them.

I have been following your work for a while now. This has to be the best pencils, from you, I have seen in a while. You can feel the emotion coming from her. Simply BEAUTIFUL. Almost brings a tear to my eye.

Gorgeous work on the pencil shading on this one - the eyes are drawn to the folded fingers, the melancholy expression. Perfectly captured.

Great work.

p.s. Turner was really cool. It's sad that he's gone.

Is this all pencil or do you use copic markers ( [link]
) like Adam Hughes? I love pencil art without ink in comics. I've studied tutorials on it by Brian Haberlin, Adi Granov, etc. I was trying to get it to work for interior art but it was just never clean enough for detailed backgrounds. Any advice or thoughts?

I've started using ink now. I don't have much finished work in my portfolio. Just sketches and tests. I've been taking myself to school this summer and fall. I hope to create a lot of finished work this winter.

I hear what you're saying about the backgrounds. I've not tried to do any interior work using pencils only. If I did, I guess I might think about doing the background on a separate sheet and dropping in the figure(s). Maybe do the background a little larger that way.

Oh, and no markers, just pencil. It takes a looooong time sometimes to keep going over and over areas to make them balance out.

I've seen Adi Granov do interiors for Iron Man but I know he's using ink in his work now. I'm not sure but I think I heard Dale Keown and Matt Milla didn't use any ink for Darkness; if that's true then... wow.
