I visited Well Walk in Hampstead, northern London primarily because it was the former residence of my favorite poet, John Keats. In the early 19th century, Hampstead was primarily a suburb, but has since been absorbed by London proper. However, it still maintains the feeling of a peaceful village, with such charming residential streets as this, which cling both to their original architecture and their proximity to the natural landscape of Hampstead Heath.

What I love most about this photograph is the color, rusty red of the bricks contrasting so strongly with the green of the moss and leaves, and the black of the bench linking to the black of the street sign. The autumn leaves which carpet the pavement are also a sensual cue to the crisp air and rustic scent of the season.

That's a lovely photograph, and you describe it well, to boot. :3
