Hey Ralph, I would simplify some of the detail in your background for starters. You may be surprised at the effect, however making those houses at the back there one single value, perhaps even grouping them with the trees. And that's the keyword really, grouping, you could apply the same to the lady's hair as well, paint out her hair strokes for a moment, and then add some subtle edges to the shape and you may find a more pleasing outcome there. Pick an area then to work up in her hair and just add some gentle touches to bring out the hair volume. In summary, to improve this I would simplify areas where there are lots of strokes to single areas of value. I hope that makes sense and sorry for no paint over, I wish I had time to help you.
