Even the mightiest can be forced to cower...

I had great fun with the storytelling in this piece. The idea of a huge Demon being brought low by an even bigger creature, whose form is deliberately only seen through its' shadow, whose an interesting challenge.

The victim still had to look big, and tough, even when beaten. I tried to achieve that through the background details of the skeletons and bones helping to give scale.

The shadow helped create a framing device, with the focus being reinforced through the use of a spotlight on the victim.

One of the saddest things about Magic cards is that the small frames do no justice to gorgeous works like this. Brilliant artwork!

Amazing composition for one of my favorite cards. (Well, as long as I'm not on the receiving end!) I love the design commentary, it really gives you a window into how great artists work.

Interesting insight to this excellent illustration :) The card is great, too -- three benefits for you at the cost of three equal injuries to an opponent!

I love how you captured the effect of a demon that would be scary to face having been humbled by an even greater force. I love the fear and emotion this piece instills: imagining how frighting it would be to come upon this wounded demon and to know whatever defeated it is still lurking out there.
