The sword reminds me of Maric's sword in "The Stolen Throne" and "The Calling" with all the blue runes. This is amazing!

OMG, not even close to uber. I will tell you that I have no clue how to set up IBLs or even understand what a Vray is. I just light things using the point and ambient settings - nothing more. Someone suggested I should do a walk-through on lighting and how I set up a scene...I am thinking of doing that on my next post. :)

I think DAZ and Poser have similar lighting so the same should apply. About the only thing I find different when things are rendered in DAZ is the texturing...somehow they don't come out the same.

As for my set up, I don't use anything pre-set. My camera is on it's default setting (main camera) and about the only thing I do different each render is the lights (and of course the figures and stuff). The background is what dictates the lighting for me and points the light source (unless you are building the background from scratch then you can decide where the light should come from). If you study a jpeg background, the light source is already built in it all you need to do is follow it through on the render and light your figures accordingly. This will ensure your figures to render seamlessly and appear as though they belong in that environment.

Hi and thanks, Dale! I use a couple of rendering engines but this one is rendered in Poser and post worked in Photoshop :)

so how much of this do you use in poser and how much is done in photoshop? :la:

I'd say 75% in Poser and 25% in Photoshop (hair, lighting tweaks, sword effects and fog).

I'm going to have to give this a try, would you say that poser is easy to use?

I'd suggest not spending money over a software till you have a little bit of hands-on experience with it or something similar. I would probably try DAZ studio first. It's free and it works pretty much the same as Poser. Have a little play with it and familiarize yourself with it first.

As for the difficulty, just like anything, the more you practice the more it becomes easy. About the most important thing you need to really master is the lighting because it is what will make or break your render.

As always with your work, the armor, weapons and atmosphere are top of the line. What most impresses me about this one though is the character's attitude, "Bring it on, we've got all night."
