The finished version of my illustration for Lucy Pearce, based on her concept.
How I spent my Thanksgiving Day, and absolutely time well spent listening to Second Doctor Big Finish stories and working on this.
This is based on the episode The Enemy of the World.
Lucy Pearce sadly passed away today after a long battle with cancer.
Lucy was an a huge fan of Doctor Who and especially the Patrick Troughton era. Several months ago, she had emailed me to commission an illustration of Jamie and Victoria, based on the episode "The Enemy of the World." It was originally just going to be a sketch but I told her that I loved her idea so much that I would like to make it a full illustration at a later time.
She emailed me again a few weeks afterwards to say she would have to cancel the commission as she was in the last stages of her cancer and wasn't expected to have much more time. I wouldn't hear of it and told her I wanted to finish it anyway for her, free of charge. I was so thankful to be able to get it done and sent to her before Christmas.
I am so grateful I had the honor of doing this artwork based on her ideas and love for Doctor Who. My love and thoughts go out to her wonderful husband, Symes. Thank you for the privilege of meeting you two through artwork.
Lucy, I hope you're somewhere building sandcastles with Patrick Troughton.
