The Trading Post
08.12.18. Now that the Trading Post has been operating for exactly a month, we'll be making some changes in response to some problems that have arisen since it's introductions. Comments can no longer be edited after a certain amount of time, so we ask that you post ONE strudel per comment, so that you can hide the comments after it has been traded off. Posting multiple in the same comment causes confusion if you cannot hide just one strudel in particular. ALSO if your strudel is not on the masterlist, please post to the Can't find your strudel? entry on the StrudelCupboard (https://www.deviantart.com/strudelcupboard) to help us find any missing babies! We're super quick about updating!

Very sorry I wasn't able to respond quickly to the last batch, ATs are open for a short while but I will be moving soon so it might be subject to some delay, for the same reason I might also not be able to do too many trades qq ATs are accepted based on  -How I like your art style (not necessarily skill related)  -How I feel able to draw your character  -Character designs and how they might inspire me  -Will do anything for good friends This following section is important! Please read this section even if you don't read the others! * Please understand that I do not accept every offer. I accept trades based on "how I need you style f

i really really really want to see more ppl experimenting with their art, esp in the wings of fire fandom (i love u all but please. Please. stop copying realtense) so this is what i'm going to do to encourage that. what is the challenge? draw something out of your comfort zone! if you usually draw w lines, try lineless. if you usually use muted colors, try bright ones. if you usually draw standing poses, do an action pose. throw some cubism in there. go buckwild. genuinely just stretch yourself beyond your comfort zone and what is... well, 'fandom popular'; the ability to diversify your style is a strength, not a hindrance. what are the re

People buy the biggest crap here...

Digital shit work that needs no talent (just stock photos, a few effects and filters) gets 100.000 of pageviews… and real traditional art with high artistic value gets a few lousy views and likes… that’s really a shame…

I think I will close down this account sooner or later… although it is called "deviantART" peope seemingly are not interested in art…

yes I agree, ive actually closed my account in 2016 after around 10 years of activity, but then reopened a week ago. For now dA is okay for sharing work, on facebook it seems people are kind of hesitant to even 'like' something, let alone comment or share. here it seems a bit more active. The key I think is to develop a community of likeminded people, and have a microcosm inside a pool of shit hehe, because there are some really talented people out here, but too independent minded and not really feeling the need to connect with others. in that sense, more serious artwork suffers in exposure to the public because the artists not the most social. while weaker 'art' triumphs because those, or some of those artists are more social.

I guess ive learned not to pay much attention to views, and im not shelling anymore $ on facebook adverstising, its a scam, people seem to respond more to cat videos than things ive put in hours and hours of work, working at 4:30am in the morning on some occasions before heading to work. Its quality over quantity for me at this point

btw, slightly related. I think you will enjoy this podcast, recently discovered it.

thanks for the feedback man^^ I understand your point.
well, I am a professional artist/illustrator. I don't have any time to build a community. Seemingly "social" today means to do endless senseless talks online ;-)
I prefer to draw and paint...
maybe I hire a student who can do the social media bullshit for me in my name ;-)

Cheers

That's why I quit this shithole years ago... I was am dedicated member for 10 years, I had prints on sale, I won contests, works featured on front page - even worked as a 3D gallery director... And then everything started to spiral down. My print sales dropped and then stopped. Newbies started post shitty fan art and that human animal combination nonsense and dumbfuck manga bullshit. Entire dA FILLED with those. And I deleted my Senior Account with lots of benefits because I couldn't stand the bullshit anymore.

And those idiots think they are doing "traditional art" because they are using pen and paper and they underestimated my 3D work which are made of modeling/sculpting, texturing and rendering from scratch - a single work of mine took between 1 and 3 weeks. Got no comments, nor favorites and zero print sales while abomination they call "art" got even more popular.

dA goes nowhere... Redbubble and even Zazzle is better to sell prints.

I completely agree. Really sad. Cheers!

I'm agree with you but the most popular is not necessary the better, if you paint a character from a Hollywood movie (joker) or from a TV serie, I'm sure you will get a lot of favs, despite this situation there is a lot of fantastic traditional art on DA.

While I wont comment as to the amount of work that goes into each piece regardless of the style ( mostly since my muse is writing and couldnt do a straight line with a ruler) but the sentiment I agree with. If you check any of the 3 groups I run you will find very, very little 3D/digital art for 2 main reasons. 1 it looks fake and something that came out of a Sim 2000 game. 2. it's mostly just folks trying to build a better female...for their wanking the cranker.
What I share and post up I feel blows any fake simulated P.O.S. out of the water. and the VERY few I do have I can tell by the quality that it took more than a filter or 2 n a stock CAD program
