Been waiting on 1 commission for 3 years; 1 commission for 1 year...
This is ridiculous.

Even after a year, I'd be asking for a refund or immediate, because if you paid already, that's insane.

I had the same problem a while ago >.>  I ended up asking for refunds because they were taking other commissions and completing them within a week and I was still waiting for mine after 2.5 years. It's really stressful. I understand when someone is busy it can take a while but if I have to hunt someone down just to see what progress they've made and they have nothing it gets a little ridiculous.

Right? I know someone had the problem with me//cause i kept forgetting so i refunded them. However what they paid was only like 10$ compared to the 100$+ I paid for the one.\
//like seriously.

That's where I get really skeptical these days. Like if I'm going to pay a large amount of money up front, they need to have good communication and work ethic. I was so sad because the artist had beautiful work and the character is just gorgeous, but now I'm kinda stuck with two characters that only has a small pixel for a reference and I don't have the skills to make them pretty. :c I think I got a little under half of what I paid as a refund because about half of the work was completed but still.
I don't even think I can sell the characters because of the rules from the auctions but I wouldn't have spent that much money in auctions without the extras that went with it.

But yeah, it really makes me afraid to commission people in the future. I even considered a PayPal charge back because it was really difficult to get a hold of the artist and I just wanted it to be done with, but of course it had been way over the time limit PayPal gives to ask for a charge back. I know it's a really shitty thing to do but like, it's also not cool to take my money and run with it?

Exactly;-; Yes thats so terrible! Im sorry you went through that. I can't do paypal chargebacks since I was always told to pay through family and friends. I'm not mad, if it gets done eventually since they do come and go sometimes, Im fine with waiting a little longer.

I do feel like I want to open commissions though since my art got better, but my prices will be a bit cheaper; I would love to raise some money.
(I charged 20$-30$ per character recently, more worth my time but less buyers. I am thinking of charging maybe 16.50$ for any character/shading etc) I know its not that big of a difference but atleast they're more serious buyers. And I still do the payment after the art is done now. This way if it never gets done its more like: "Oh well ok." then "Well refund now then??"

You should totally open commissions! Have you tried furaffinity? I know a lot of it is anthro but the markets for feral are just as popular. They seem to have a lot more serious buyers.
