As you well know summer is on us (well those of us in the northern hemisphere) and that means more traveling and the like. This means more accidents and more people ending up in the hospital. Most people do not realize that hospitals are always on a razors edge when it comes to donate blood. I decided to donate blood and found it was actually not that hard.
First they ask all kinds of questions to make sure you can donate and are healthy enough for it. Then after all this you get a snack and something to drink (yea that is a bonus) and put you in a comfortable chair. The person I got was so good I did not feel the needle. Less than fifteen minutes later I was done, I waited fifteen minutes and was on my way, less than an hour out of my day. You know what though? It changed me, I realized I had done something personal that mattered, truly mattered and that I had helped saved a life (or two not sure how many I did help) but someone is probably walking around in part because of my gift.
It did not cost money but something more, something personal but it made me feel good doing this. If you are healthy I recommend doing this. You will be glad you did.
