This is some motion graphic design work I did earlier this year for a startup news organization called Vocativ, under the design and animation studio Laundry. They basically needed some flashy graphics that would kind of illustrate how they mine the deep web for news stories and information.
I used a combination of Modo and Photoshop, hope you like it!

Thanks a lot! In the top and the bottom images, the iceberg shapes and details were primarily modeled and rendered in Modo. A lot of the little dots and lines are also 3D. The middle image has substantially less 3D than the other two, but some of the details and lines were done in Modo.
As for Modo tutorials, check out Lynda.com. You can get a super cheap subscription and cancel it as soon as you're done going through the tutorials you need. That's how I first started to learn the program.

Thanks, I know Lynda.com but thanks anyway for the tip
I've used Modo to model this: erebus74.deviantart.com/art/Pr…
Very basic and simple shapes, but at that scale for a boardgame they had also to be "smooth" and "usable".
The only problem I had was to create the correct file for the 3D printer of the manufacturer, I don't remember exactly what kind of file it wanted, but in the end I had to export the file from Modo to Rhynoceros and from there to the printing file.
Anyway, I have to find some time for more Modo training, it's really a sleek software for free modelling.
I've also tried Sculptris and Z-brush, but I have to train much more on those two.
I have to find the time between my work as illustrator/graphic designer and finishing to write a boardgame that will be published next year and my RPG shadowlords.net.
I need two of me, maybe three

Interesting, what are these exactly?
These make me think of futuristic holographic maps such that might be used by space explorers- the top and bottom could be cutaways of bizarre structures on alien planets, while the middle looks like a star map of a spiral galaxy. They look pretty cool, for sure!!

RANDOM DA Word Search #18 - DEEPPlugged in the iTouch ranom word generator and came up with the word.... DEEP.
Performed a search of the newest art on DA with "DEEP" as a keyword, and here are the first 10 that came up that spoke to me on an artistic level.
That's it for this edition of Random DA Word Search. All of these artworks are less than a day old as of this writing... get out there, check out these awesome artists, their galleries, and be generous with your faves.
