I was feeling quite un-inspired until I came across this by AbbeyMarie www.youtube.com/watch?v=KymX_w…
My talented friend Timelesshalls wrote this oh-so-beautiful tale inspired my artwork:
"On a clear night, when the moon is new, you can gaze into the sky and you will gaze into eternity - but be warned, for eternity gazes back at you.
Eternity embraced her role, as thankless and boring as it was, because no one else could. Mortals despised her for not giving them endless life, immortals cursed her for giving them endless life, but it was not hers to decide, only to impart. Sailing the cosmos in her dusty guise as nebulae, quasars and gamma bursts, she chanced upon an awkwardly positioned little planet in the outer arm of an unremarkable spiral galaxy, positioned third from its mediocre yellow dwarf star, but was surprised to see it contained life! What a perfect opportunity to mingle with some lesser beings, to see what it was like on the other side of the celestial railroad tracks as it were.
Coming down to find a race of carbon-based bipedal lifeforms dominating the crust, she took on their form and decided to get to know them a little bit. Quite the eclectic bunch of various sizes, shapes and colours, they ranged in scope from pathetic to potential, and she made notes of all the ones who tickled her fancy. These select few would be great candidates for being bestowed immortality, but that wasn't up to her. All she could do was make suggestions. In the end, what fate awaited this little backwater world was outside her purview. But she liked it, as one might like an anthill they stumbled across, or a weird rock with funny stripes on it. One day, these bipedal carbon-based creatures may escape this rock and journey throughout the cosmos, but it wouldn't be anytime soon.
But curiously, they were already starting to visit their own moon, sending out probes to the other planets in their star's system. She frowned, or would have if she had a mouth. Maybe there was more going on here yet. She had after all been around for such a long, long time, it was very hard to surprise her anymore, and yet...here she was...getting surprised.
What an altogether lovely feeling! She was going to stick around. This could prove to be a rather enlightening interlude in her long, long existence after all!" ~by Timelesshalls
I painted this nebula background for use in this manip, and thought I'd make it available as stock.
