Sherlock Holmes

Finally some personal work after long time. This time someting different.
Im a big fan of A.C Doyle novels so have painted something from his books about Sherlock Holmes. This is my vision of the great detective listening to young lady in need. She had some dark and complicated story for his analytic mind. I've tried to paint somehow intimate victorian atmosphere.

The picture was quiet hard for me because i've never painted so big characters, so maybe there are some not correct anatomy deails.
I will welcome some comments. Only reference was used for sherlock face and the lady costume. all done in photoshop.

I wanted to invite you personally to submit your art for a Sherlockian art contest that's being held in London in connection with a new book release ART IN THE BLOOD.  It's at a cocktail party the Baker Street Babes are running and there are medals and a purchase award from the Sherlock HOlmes Hotel on Baker street as prizes.  Details are here:…
I'm afraid it's got a very short lead time.  Please email me if you have any questions.
We are looking for Victorian era Holmes, any medium or style.  The website has more info.

Thanks, Bonnie MacBird

Im sorry that I missed that.
The lighting in this is terrific. Also I LOVE this Holmes, he seems to have jumped right out of the book! It isn't the modernized version, it's not romanticized to the hilt, it's just the way he should be.

Great job.

Incredible work! The way you use light in this piece is positively stunning. The background especially is very well done. The scene is warm and Victorian and stunningly beautiful. I particularly liked the way you captured the smoke from Holmes' pipe. Incredible work! It would be a crime not to favourite. Stunning and captivating piece. I love it!

Me and my girlfriend are so jealous of your work that we are trying to figure out each and every slight mistake this picture has XD
The light, shadows, and smoke really help tell the story here. Love it!

Awesome! Love the soft glowing light and how Holme's is relaxed in his comfy chair, although his interest is peaked while carefully listening to the young lass. hehe I think you have captured the atmosphere of 221 Bakers St. quite well indeed! Wonderful job! :iconifeelfluffyplz:

This is wonderful :) I always love the atmosphere you create with light :) Holmes is so attentive, it's clear that the story has gripped him.

You know - the way the woman's face is, it looks *just a little* like Frida Kahlo. I know the dates would be off, but Holmes also looks a little immortal there, so... XD

Love the painting style... would kill to be able to do that.
