Hey friends! There have been several art and commission related scams going around out there and I have received countless messages trying to fleece me out of money, so I thought I would warn you about it and help you know the signs. I don't want my friends and fellow artists falling victim to these people! I will mostly be using an example of a scam I received on DeviantArt, but also talk about some of the ones I have received on Instagram (my other main art platform). DISCLAIMER: I do not recommend interacting or texting back and forth with scammers like these. The only reason that I do it is to expose their methods and spread awareness so others don't fall for them. They have no profile picture, or a picture of a random person that is stolen from someone else. These people will frequently do the bare minimum, or make no effort at all, to look "convincing" or "legit". Their profiles are often empty with few or no deviations or posts, and no bio.
